Gino stated that a couple of months ago on a clear night, he and 2 neighbours witnessed some strange coloured lights. He stated that there were four orange balls travelling in formation, in a straight , at the same speed. Some of the lights had ‘embers’ falling off them. There was no apparent sound and they flew quite low, much lower than a plane travelling south east-south west towards Ipswich. AUFORN QLD

Mrs Fisher phoned our hotline because she thought a UFO had landed on her driveway and left strange marks. I went to see Mrs Fisher when I was in the area. After talking to Mrs Fisher I found out that she had the concrete driveway cleaned by a young lad about two months ago. Not long after that, these marks appeared on her driveway. They are infact without a doubt broom marks made using cleaning liquid when the lad was brushing the driveway. He has not done a very good job and this would explain the strange marks on her driveway. Mrs Fisher is a lovely old lady, very fit and healthy 85 year old. She was very disappointed because she said she believed in UFO’s and could not find a reason for these strange marks so she was convinced it was a UFO. We had a cup of tea and a chat and she was happy with my explanation and was going to get the lad back to re clean her driveway. Jan Stone AUFORN QLD

The witness left home early to drive to Pipers River for work. A large bright light was noticed in the eastern sky. the witness did not take much notice until he saw that it was moving north. As he headed towards the Batman Bridge the light looked to be a mere 300/400m off to his left and 50m above the ground. It seemed to accelerate and gain elevation going ahead of his car over the next hill. From the Batman Bridge he observed a light over Hillwood which travelled northwards as he took the road to Pipers River when he lost sight of the light due to the trees. The light was seen again from the Old George Town Road (6.10am) but at an higher elevation and disappearing in the early morning light. Venus on the 5th rose at 5.55am so that the light seen from Beaconsfield must have been something else. However, the elevated light fading in the morning light from the Old George Town Road may well have been the planet. Paul Jackson TUFOIC

Daughter was driving home from friends house when she noticed at least 4 cars by the side of one of the main roads of Newcastle. She stopped to see what was doing, she noticed as the others had, three bright yellow lights moving due West away from the observers. They formed a straight line, 9 o&Mac226;clock to 3 o&Mac226;clock. This was at approx 10.45pm, she was home 5 minutes later and alerted her mother , sister and a friend. All three watched for a further 30 minutes approx as the objects grew smaller in the distance, not moving side to side but simply away. This was viewed against the backdrop of a hill with housing below the upper peak. The objects were low on the horizon with an altitude lower than a plane, there was no noise heard. There was no wind to speak of and the lights were solid in colour, not flickering. They left view as they became too small to see. The witness&Mac226;s had feelings of disbelief, amazement but no fear or sense of threat. Could be lighted garbage bags but unusual that they did not deviate or flicker. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

Kevin was out viewing the clear night sky when he noticed a ghostly grey, hazy cloud like figure of a V shaped object travelling across the sky at satellite speed. The object travelled in a straight line North to South and did not deviate in trajectory. The object had a clear outline and was squared off at the end of the V as it travelled with the point of the V at the front of the object. It was observed for 30 to 40 seconds and kept uniform size and formation. It was lost to view in the distance and seemed to be very high. Apparent size was at arms length 6 inches each side of the V with 75 to 80 degree arc between the two at the rear. This seems abnormaly large but I did check with the witness on this matter several times. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

Chris went outside at 10.15 p.m. and saw 2 lights - east-north-east, 30o. Lights came closer together, moving up & down, swapping over. Chris watched this for 10 minutes, and observed one light to drop ‘like a rock’ 5-7degrees in sky & appeared to move away at a 90 degree angle away & up. The other light stayed there till 10.55 p.m. gradually moving away after seven minutes. AUFORN QLD

Chris & a friend were outside and observed 2 lights in the sky, north-east of Eight Mile Plains, coming towards them. Looked like 2 aircraft with landing lights - then started to go due west, coming a couple of kms apart, then went north-west. Appeared to have quite bright lights which would occasionally blink out.

Chris phone dialled the local control tower at 10.43 p.m. and asked them if any aircraft were registered, and was told no, that ATC have to be notified of all movements. AUFORN QLD

Report: "I am Glenns sister and I am sending this e-mail with his permission. At 7 30. am on the 18 th April Glenns 14 year old son saw something in the sky , white and red orange vapour like going through the sky at a terrific speed, and no sound. they filmed it for about 5 seconds before it vanished over the horizon, When it was zoomed in on the video it had a dark object on the front of it, a white vapour like trail and a red vapour trail under that, as I said no sound and moved with great speed. This was 24 klm out to sea in the stanage bay area. The Local paper in Rockhampton, looked at it on their computer and enlarged it to the best they could, still no shape to the object that could be described. Tapes have been sent to Brisbane and as far as we know one is being sent to the States for analysis. We would like to know what this was. The Morning Bulletin paper got in touch with the army and there was no army craft in the area at that time."

Unusual: Moved with great speed, had no sound at all, white vapour with red vapour under the white , This vapour followed the craft or object.
Location: Stanage bay Area , 2 hours north of Rockhampton.
Other witnesses: My children. 14 years ,12 years, 8 years and 7 years.
Weather conditions: slightly cloudy
Physical stuff: Great speed, Had to be huge, due to distance away. Travelling North to South. Doug Moffett UFOR(NSW)

On the North side of Brisbane, Chermside locality at 5:30am on the 19/4/01 Mrs X saw a very bright light situated low in the sky. The light resembled a star but had a magnitude three times greater. Mrs X used a telescope to view the object and reported it to 4BC who explained it as a morning star.

Comment: It is quite possible Mrs X saw Venus. Jan Stone AUFORN QLD

A young lady named Silvana saw something strange when out with her friend late one night. It was the night of the 20th of April 2001, the time was just after midnight. They were in the Narre Waren area. The object was described as being ‘too big’ to be a plane and moving very fast.It was also very bright....so bright it ‘looked like a prism in a star shape...producing different colours like a prism’.

The object appeared to be heading towards the Narre Warren area. It was not very high up..it was lower than a plane...gliding...and with no noise...seemed like it was only a few kilometers away. Silvana thought it would hit the ground. She also said she’s never seen anything like it before. (Note...a few years ago there was numerous reports coming from the Narre Warren area...and a local professional photographer managed to photograph one which looks very like the above description. )

Silvana’s friend’s partner also wanted to report a case, he had apparently seen something some 18 months previously. It was at an elevation of approx. 40 degrees.

It was about 9:30 pm...on a very clear night..a large orange Ball of light...with NO sound or strobes..."not fast enough to be a helicopter", flew nearby. It was travelling "away from me". The witness then noticed that the light went dull very quickly, and suddenly changed direction. It then went out of sight. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

At 10:45pm on the 21/4/01 at Rochedale South, Luke and his wife saw four bright lights passing over his house. The lights moved slowly across the sky, had an orange/red tinge and had an alleged size of a football. The lights travelled from North East to SouthEast. Luke’s wife recorded a one minute video of the lights, which was viewed at their house, unfortunately we were unable to attain a copy for further investigation. Jan Stone AUFORN QLD

Mrs Y works the night shift at the Bond University on the Gold Coast. On the 22/4/01 at 4:45am while looking through the window she and other work mates saw a large bright light about the size of a tennis ball. The light was in a North -East position. "It looked like it had legs hanging down form the bottom of the light, sort of like a spider", she said. Mrs Y said they had never seen anything like it before. They watched it for about half an hour, then forgot about it because they had to catch up with some work. I asked her if she thought it could have been Venus and she said maybe but what about the legs? Possible reflection? Jan Stone AUFORN QLD

Report: "My sister and I were standing on the sidewalk talking when I looked up and saw a group of square dull orange lights arranged in a V shape flying through the sky. It was not moving in the direction of the v point but moving like this V ---> with one side of the V as the front of the object. There were approx..... 4 lights on each side and my sister and I watched it until it disappeared until the light from the city made it disappear. It was heading in a south, south easterly direction. We were in the suburb on Corrimal just North of Wollongong."

Unusual: It was moving faster than a plane. It was not as high as the stars but appeared to be higher than a plane.

26.04.01 CANBERRA, ACT (Identified as a meteor)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 1358)
It sounded like a meteor to me. I think the guy grossly exaggerated the size of the object he saw and there were more than 3 discrepancies in his account, making him a rather unreliable witness.

He stated that he saw a fiery object that was bigger than an orange when held at arm’s length and very, very bright. I found it difficult to determine which direction he was travelling in. He seemed very confused himself about which road he was on. I’m not sure if he was travelling north on Hindmarsh Drive or east on Canberra Avenue. He said he saw the object travelling south and that he first sighted it in the direction of the airport. I suspect that as it was in the wee hours of the morning he was a little "worse for wear".

When I asked if the surrounding countryside was lit up by the object he said no, and yet a very bright object that size would be at least many times larger and therefore brighter than the full Moon and should have lit up the entire countryside.

He said on one hand that he got a very good look at it and yet also said

That he only saw it for only one or two seconds at the most.

At one point he claimed that it went directly overhead, however he also said he was inside a car and that he saw it through the side window.

He claims to have watched the object disappear over the horizon and was tempted to try to follow it and yet an object travelling that fast, (it crossed at least half in the sky in 2 secs by his account) would have been impossible for him to catch. This doesn’t seem to have occurred to him.

As you can see, the narrative doesn’t hang together very well.

All in all I think he probably did see something, but I don’t think it was anything more than a very bright meteor. I think he has over-dramatised what he witnessed, which as we know is not uncommon. Clare Williams (Independent Investigator)

"Orange/red fire balls travelling west/east over Mt. Gambier, SA. First was followed by the second at 5 min interval. Report: "Son John (a semi-retired upholsterer, Philatelist, Leathercrafter) rang me telling me to go outside as he had seen an object in the sky some minutes before, and that now an other one was approaching. He lives less than 2 kms from our place, so I went onto our front veranda from where you look right over the city center, and saw a orange coloured ball moving slowly in a easterly direction,it seemed to be on fire. I watched it for several minutes, then it suddenly disappeared, 5 or 6 minutes later, an other one appeared over the city coming from the west and moving slowly east, that also disappeared. Being late night shopping, my wife and I got into the car to go to Woolworths. As soon as we turned into the street, we saw this big orange ball coming over the city from a north westerly direction, this too seemed to be on fire. By the time we got to the shop it was moving in a easterly direction towards Victoria. Other people at Woollies had seen it."

Unusual: Clouds were reasonably high, but the objects appeared to be below them. Time lapse between each of the four appearances was about 10 minutes. No sounds.
Location: Less than 5 kms from the flight path.
Duration: 30 to 40 minutes. Doug Moffett UFORNSW

(Source: Filer’s Files #18 - 2001, MUFON Skywatch Investigations George A. Filer, Director, Mutual UFO Network Eastern May 1, 2001)
Darryl Jones writes that he holds an ultra light pilots license and is a yachtsman so he is more aware of the sky. On April 26, 2001, he was 15 miles North of Newcastle. He was looking at the sky with a friend at 8:00pm when a huge triangular outlined shape formed by white lights, mostly on the leading edge, but enough on the trailing edge to define this boomerang outline, flew directly over head. It had to be massive. His first impression was that it was between 10,000 to 30,000 feet high. It was 5 degrees wide, silent and flew straight with no ionization trail. Suddenly it was gone like the lights went out. Only minute’s later single lights began scribing perfect arc’s between 40 to 80 degrees south, first in one direction then the other in exactly the same circuit, then they too were gone. They were making a crescent shape as they too were fading out in the western portion of their arc. "I have wracked my brain for an explanation such as birds, aircraft, or asteroids. My friend and I sat down and made notes that were near identical. We concluded the most likely explanation was a mother ship and the single orbs somehow came from it".

"I am still far from satisfied with that explanation though. As the military aircraft from a nearby RAAF base were out in larger than normal numbers, the three helicopters and possibly five F18’s might have been a laser type focused display. The triangle was "flying" in the direction of the base. My friend was looking the other way when I spotted the triangle approaching. He got two and a half seconds to observe it, while I got five. We agreed on what we saw. The orbs were around for 13 passes for three minutes at very high speed. They dimmed out as they headed west for the sun now over the horizon, suggesting again deep space objects. The main group then fractured and returned to earth much like fighter pilots peel off. There was a small storm in the distance with heavy lightning that continued all night. Others claim to regularly see the big triangle inland at Bathurst. Darryl Jones vital.earth@hunterlink.net.au.
