On 3 June 2005, at 10 pm in Ipswich, a woman and her two adult children were about to get into their car when they saw two brilliant orange lights barely moving in the sky. They observed them for about five minutes, then the lights moved quickly away. When they reached their destination in Rosewood, the witnesses saw a stationary red light with a tail, about the size of a walnut at arm’s length. It hovered for ten minutes before moving away quickly, disappearing in a few seconds.

On 9 June 2005, around 8.10 pm in Beaumont Hills, Steven and Grant saw three orange lights 35-degrees above the horizon slowly ascending in a triangular formation. After a few minutes they formed into a straight line. When the lights were ascending slowly they blinked out, one after another. They blinked on again after about ten seconds and then disappeared into the distance. Its apparent size was about one quarter of the size of a five cent piece at arm’s length. On 13 June 2005, retired bricklayer Chris Peacock (53) was stargazing while he tried to fall asleep at 3.00 am when he noticed a moving star which kept him awake until dawn. He said, “I looked at the stars and then one of them moved, became bright, then moved up and down and made weird shapes in the sky”. He woke his wife and daughter (20) who both saw it. “I had always heard about UFOs and never believe in them,” Chris said. “I know it wasn’t a plane or a helicopter. It was doing things you know mankind cannot do.” He said the object continued its apparently random movement across the sky almost until dawn when it disappeared. He dismissed it as a strange phenomenon until he saw it reappear the next morning.

While waiting for a visitor, the witness noticed a dark hexagonal shape appearing from the low cloud overhead. As she watched, an orange disc-shaped object shot out from the underside. It went away to the southwest, being obscured by a clump of trees. The dark shape had disappeared back into the mist, only to re-appear a few minutes later and perform the same manoeuvre. The object was last seen disappearing into the mist. Keith Roberts TUFOIC

On 19 June 2005 around 9.20 pm, the witness was relaxing at home after a family trip and, as usual, was checking for phone messages and monitoring the emergency services on his radio (being a member). All of a sudden it came over the radio that police on patrol had sighted three extremely bright orange lights in a straight-line formation, moving parallel with the coastline at Kilcunda, about half a kilometre out to sea, heading towards Wonthaggi. At this stage, the conversation between the police patrol and the base station was becoming quite hurried and excited, with the exchange of words of description, location, and speed of the objects etc. The witness immediately went outside to the front porch with his wife and two children to observe the sky. Three intensely bright orange lights were travelling towards us from Kilcunda, at an altitude of 1,500 to 2,000 feet, just below the level of the cloud base. The three lights could only be described as like car headlights on high beam, on a highway whilst driving at night at approximately one kilometre away, or closer. There were no actual beams of light, and no features could be discerned, except for the lights. Their estimated speed was approximately 200 kilometres per hour. The night was cold and a low cloud base apparent, with absolutely no wind, and no sound could be heard as they passed directly overhead. As the witness points out, “Had it not been brought to my attention, I would not have realised that they were present”. Approximately thirty seconds later a fourth light, similar to the others, appeared, following behind them. The total duration of the sighting from start to finish was approximately two minutes, and all of the objects disappeared into the clouds over the Cape Patterson area. The lights were witnessed by several emergency service workers and members of the public. Photographic and video footage has been taken of this event.

On Thursday 23 June 2005 at 6.40 am Gary was driving to work when he noticed a comet-like object in the clear blue sky. It was an unusual object which appeared to be travelling north in a white cloud with a white contrail. It was solid looking and described as being a coke bottle-shape. Gary reported it as being far away, very high up and moving slowly across the sky. He watched it until it disappeared from view at 6.55 am. Gary has seen this same object three or four times, always on a Thursday morning and always at the same time.

Coincidently, on Thursday 14 April 2005, at 6.15 am, Larraine Cilia (Vice President of UFO Society, Western Sydney) and another witness spotted a shiny object with a tadpole-shaped contrail on the eastern horizon from Cawdor, over looking South Camden. The object was travelling from north to south on the right hand side of the sun. It was not an airplane as the contrail was travelling with the object and planes leave the contrail in the sky, and there was no associated noise.

Larraine said: “As we watched, a dark aircraft approached from the south underneath the object. I viewed it through my binoculars but it was too distant to define any shape. It remained in the sky for approximately fifteen minutes and gradually faded from view.”

During Larraine’s interview with Gary, he told of a past UFO experience which happened in the 1980s while he was living at Point Claire. He was on his back verandah over looking at the ocean off Woy Woy, when a craft came into view low on the shoreline, travelling north. Gary described it as being bubble-shaped with a searchlight in front. He was close enough to observe two figures inside the craft. He was also close enough to determine it was not a helicopter and can’t remember any associated noise. He said it was a dark shape and unusual. He remembers wanting to photograph the object, but got a strange feeling not to. As the object passed, it switched off its front light. Larraine Cilia UFOSWS

On 23 June 2005, at 7.10 am, Steven was driving to work on the South East Freeway, heading towards the Brisbane CBD. He had just taken the Vulture Street exit when he looked up to his left and saw a bright white star-shaped object. He originally thought it was a plane. About one minute later he looked up again but to his right side and between the buildings he could see the object. It was about the size of his thumbnail at arm’s length. It wasn’t a plane as there were no flashing navigation lights. The sighting lasted about two minutes. It was a cloudy day. Daniel Sims AUFORN QLD

On 27 June 2005 Jason was driving along the sealed road 70 km from Daly Waters, after 1.00 am, when he observed an unusual light. As he drove on, the object appeared stationary and a little larger at each glance, as though the witness was getting closer. It was now a whitish blue, and red lights were seen revolving around it. Soon thereafter, as the witness pulled over for a regular sleep at a closed BP station, he noticed that at 10-degrees to the right of centre of this object was what appeared to be a ‘trace, like a string of cotton’. After the witness woke from his rest, the object was gone. Jason travels the same road each week, from Darwin to his workplace at Port Keats.

About a week earlier, around 23 June, on another of these regular drives, the witness was on a dirt road and noticed huge explosions of light over the trees and the horizon in places where no roads or works existed. Although no objects were sighted, the events continued at several positions until they eventually ceased. There was no vehicle interference. It was about 4.00 am and he was driving away from Port Keats. The witness says he is normally on the dirt road once a week around 4 am. Dominic McNamara, AUFORN SA

Leoni and Robert were outside on a Saturday night and saw things that looked like satellites in the sky, ‘only they were different’. They were red and orangey looking, with a bar underneath, like aerials, with one on top and one below. A couple of hours later they saw some more, three of them this time, the second lot being higher than the first. These were very slow moving. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

Matt was driving to Torquay and was between Werribee and Geelong when he saw something in the sky, between 6.30 and 7.00 pm. He saw three bright objects together forming a triangle.

They were Venus, Mercury and Saturn. It was just an unusual astronomical event that caught his attention. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

Whilst driving south past the airport, 10 km north of Mount Gambier at 8.45 pm, on 30 June 2005, the witness saw three white lights at a 30-degree elevation. The witness said: “At first, I thought it was a plane about to land. As it lined up on an approach it had three white lights in a line, but no navigation lights. The airport landing lights were off, but they should have been switched on by the pilot when landing. There was no noise and after a few seconds I realised, after alighting from my car, that the lights were stationary in the sky. I could not see any shape at all. I continued on after about a minute and while entering the city saw an orange glow at about a 45-degree elevation traverse northeast towards the airport about 10 km away. It moved quite slowly in a straight line without navigation lights or sound. It had a haze around it and was not man-made.” Diane Frola, AUFORN
