FEBRUARY 2006
04.02.06 RABY, NSW 2215hrs (NL)
Around 10 pm on Saturday the 4th February, 2005, Troy who lives at Raby was out the front of his house to say goodbye to friends. He waved them off and then looked up into the Southern sky. He was admiring the clear starry night when suddenly a bright orange light came into his view. It was travelling from the south and toward him, i.e. Heading North.

His initial impression was that it should be an aircraft of some sort. Then maybe a meteor or something but it was moving too slowly. The object flickered and wavered in the sky and eventually changed direction from North to Northwest. It made no noise at all and glided along on one level, neither gaining, nor losing altitude. The object was travelling about 20 degrees above the horizon and was eventually lost to the tree lines. The whole observation took 5 to 6 minutes. Having lived in the area for some twenty years and used to seeing aircraft on the flight paths, he knew this was something unusual. He has never made a report before.

When asked as to whether he felt it could have been an orange garbage balloon inflated with a candle or something, he replied “we used to muck about with that sort of thing ourselves so I know it was no such thing”.

Troy was left with a feeling of amazement at what he had just seen. UFOSWS

I was lying on the recliner next to the pool looking to the southwest. I had been observing several satellites for about twenty minutes. Not much shooting star activity but lots of satellites. It was an interesting evening because a few of the satellites were exhibiting flashing lights which I presumed were solar panels or other reflective surfaces catching light as the satellite rolled; a phenomenon which hadn’t been as obvious to me before.

An orange light emerged in the sky from over the roof of the house heading in a northwesterly direction. Initially I thought it was the police helicopter as it was the brightness of the police helicopter’s spotlight and about the same size. However, it was more of an orange colour compared to the spotlight which is more whitish. I’m pretty familiar with the police helicopter as it is around here quite often. I fully expected to be able to eventually hear the helicopter and for the spotlight to be pointed in another direction as it always does. However, there was NO sound and the light remained steady as it flew to the northwest without changing direction. In fact, it moved pretty much like the satellites except that it appeared to be flying at normal aircraft altitude and it was way, way, way larger and brighter than the satellites. As I said, it was of similar brightness and size as the police spotlight. Later I noticed the streetlight on Leach Highway as I was walking inside and thought that they were very similar to the light in the sky.

It eventually faded out as it approached the horizon. Towards the end of its appearance it looked very much like a star. I tried to see if I could see other navigation lights but they were never visible. That may have been because the light was too bright to see them or else they weren’t there or switched on. There was nothing outlandish about it. It looked very terrestrial except that I couldn’t work out what it was, for the first time ever.

I have been double-checking my opinion that if it was a normal aircraft I should have been able to see its other navigation lights - and this is correct. So, it wasn’t a normal aeroplane - or at least, it didn’t have standard navigation lights (it didn’t have any!)

And I certainly should have been able to hear it – which I couldn’t. Also, if it was a light attached to an aircraft it would have to have been underneath the aircraft, as the light remained steady for the duration of its observable flight. It didn’t change intensity - just got smaller as it flew away from me. The sighting lasted one or two minutes.

A very small light moving from the south and heading north. My partner and I saw these lights from our backyard at Rothwell. They looked like very small stars - they did not blink or flash and they moved very steadily and quickly.

Oliver went outside for a cigarette, then he noticed a very strange light “dancing around” near Mount Dandenong.  He says it wasn’t a plane and wasn’t a planet either, and he was wondering whether anyone else had reported it as well. Number of witnesses: 1. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

Helen observed a bright white-coloured light early in the morning for three days in a row. It appeared to be the size of a star and through the video camera appeared to be a perfect circle with a black line through the middle three quarters of the way up. It appeared to shrink and then grow big (used 20x zoom) and had what she described as a green and red tinge of light around the outside. She observed it for 15 minutes and took some video footage.

"A Rosewood woman believes she has proof that there really is life out of this world"
Marie-Louise Theile: A Rosewood woman believes she has proof that there really is life out of this world. Nicole Compton captured images with her video camera that she says are of a UFO hovering near her house.
Andrew Leahy: Its a view thats out of this world, but early this morning Nicole Compton saw something through her bedroom window that sent shivers down her spine.
Nicole Compton: In the sky there was just a really awesome bright white light, like just really blindingly like white.
Andrew Leahy: Eerily it was the crying of her two year old that woke her, the Rosewood mother of two grabbed her video camera and captured these images just after three this morning.
Nicole Compton: I'm not one to believe in that kind of thing but I reckon it might have been a UFO.
Andrew Leahy: She woke her husband Matt who was pessimistic at first but he couldn't explain the light either.
Matt Kanofski: Obviously it was something different, there was no noise you know like a plane or a chopper.
Andrew Leahy: She even woke her sister who lives twenty minutes away and made her look out her window to verify it was really there. Ironically enough where Nicole lives is called 'The Bluff', and with Amberly Airbase just 15 km away the skeptic's would say the lights had to be an aircraft, but the RAAF have assured us that they had nothing in the air at that time. While it could be a weather balloon the Bureau of Meteorology says thats highly unlikely. While astronomers from Brisbane Planetarium believe it could have been Venus rising.
Nicole Compton: I've never seen anything like that it was pretty frightening really.
Andrew Leahy: No matter the theories Nicole says she knows what she saw and says she'll never forget it. Andrew Leahy Ten News.

INVESTIGATION:
Channel 10 came out they did a very long interview with her but did not report the relevant details on TV of what she saw or what the object did while she observed it.

Nicole woke to the crying of her two year old son at 3.40 am. While getting out of bed She noticed a very very brighter light out side her window which appeared to be fading in and out. Nicole got out of bed and attended to her two year old then called her husband to come look at the bright light to see if he could make out what it was.

Both Matt & Nicole watched the light for a few minutes then Nicole decided to call her sister who lives 10 minutes away time of the call 3.45 am to see if her sister could see the light. Her sister said she could see this object.

The light appeared to fade in and out and sometimes appeared to move closer to their location. Nicole raced inside grabbed her Sony handycam at approximately 3.50 am and started filming the light. She filmed it until the film ran out some 5- 10 minutes later.

Nicole said she got a feeling the light was hovering as though observing the area. While Matt Nicole and Karen watched the light it then changed form into a triangle and shoot off at great speed to the North west.

In the morning Nicole rang the RAAF base to ask if they had anything in the sky at that time, they said no. She rang the Sydney Observatory to see if any planets or bright stars could be seen in her location a female person working there said, not that she was aware of.

After the story went to air yesterday Nicole had received some unusual calls to her home. One being a farmer from Flagstone Creek location, situated the other side of Flinders Peak. He rang to reassure Nicole she wasn't seeing things as he too saw an object fly over his head that morning while attending his cows.

A member of the Ipswich police rang to ask if anyone else had reported seeing the UFO. Today Nicole informed me her local newspaper the Queensland Times want to run a story tomorrow about the sightings and asked if AUFORN would mind supply the images we had captured and placed on our web page as Channel 10 have not yet returning her film or video camera.
