Kelly was photographing what she believes was the private boys school at Bathurst. The weather was a bit rainy, but for the most part, she got her project work done. Kelly saw nothing that day, but when she looked closely at her images at home, she noticed that she had caught an object in the frame she did not even see when ‘shooting’. Kelly is sending the image for us to analyse. Dominic McNamara AUFORN NSW

John was outside looking to the west when he saw what he thought was a flare. When he saw that it was too high up for a flare, John then surmised that “it must be a plane on fire” travelling like a plane would for some 10 seconds. But if it was a plane, it was quite clearly in trouble as John described it as a “fireball” in the sky. Now all of this took place at exactly 7:12 pm on a watch that is synchronised to both the internet updated computer clock and a third source! Then, all of a sudden, the orange flames, or whatever they were, went inwards and fizzled out it until the object was a little speck like a star, at first going up but then down like in an arc from west to east. No sounds were heard. The whole sighting took less than half a minute. John lives at Coogee, close to the beach. He stated that when first observed, the object was no more than 40 degrees above a flat horizon. Dominic McNamara AUFORN NSW

At around 7:25 pm on Sunday the 1st October, 2006, Mrs O of Arncliffe was standing on the balcony, facing towards the city when she saw something red, like fire, crossing the sky. “It started going up until it went out like a star”. Mrs O could not speak as fluent English as many of us, but she managed to convey that she watched this episode for anything up to around 40 seconds. She stated being too scared to stay out on the balcony for the rest of the evening and classed what she saw as “very, very strange”. Dominic McNamara AUFORN NSW

Michelle, who lives at Brighton le Sandes, called to report a sighting of a fireball in the sky. “I could see it through the trees at first. I saw an orange bright light, my kids saw it too! It was a ‘watermelon’ shape, very fiery, but moved quite slowly across the sky until it went out like a dot and then went away from us”. Michelle’s story matches directly in time and description with other reports across the Sydney Metropolitan area. Michelle described an object which was clearly guided, not ‘falling’. “It was going up across the sky, lit up again and suddenly went out away from us towards the West. The time of the sighting was 7:10 – 7:15 pm. The sighting took around 40 seconds, “enough time to call mum and dad and my nephew. We all looked at it along with kids.” Dominic McNamara AUFORN NSW

In the evening of 11 October 2006, Phillip and three friends were playing tennis at Castle Hill, a suburb of Sydney. It was a very dark sky and Phillip’s attention was drawn to two orange balls of light, which appeared to be flaring in the night sky. He drew his teammate’s attention to the lights in the sky and the four witnesses watched the objects for about five minutes. They were travelling on a northwest to southeast track about 3-degrees apart. They were about 30-degrees above the horizon and were compared to the size of a pearl on the top of a pearl top pin. They remained at the same altitude and distance and did not change appearance. As they passed by, their fronts and backs remained a constant colour. There were no strobe or navigation lights. They appeared to be moving at the same rate as a light aircraft, maintaining a steady pace, but they couldn’t hear any noise. The witnesses watched the objects until they disappeared from view behind the treeline. Phillip was so intrigued by the sighting that he rang the Richmond Air Force Base and the Air Traffic Control Centre to try to identify what he had seen but he didn’t get any information from either. Since moving to Wingham, Roy and his wife have become avid night watchers. Their property has a 360-degree view and they are situated west of Taree. This is not the first time that Roy has reported strange light activity in the night sky.

On the night of 12 October 2006, Roy and his wife were sitting outside when they noticed a single yellowy coloured light very high up and moving very fast towards them. It was a very clear night and they could see the light very clearly travelling northwest to northeast, which was definitely not on a flight path. Roy is familiar with the air traffic that passes over the area. He approximated this object as appearing 45-degrees above the horizon and was about the size of a star. At first they thought it was a satellite but as they watched, it suddenly veered away and disappeared. The whole sighting lasted about two minutes. Larraine Cilia AUFORN NSW

14.10.06 IPSWICH, QLD
On 14 October 2006, late at night, while parked opposite Queens Park, Ipswich, and eating a pizza, Mark, the driver, noticed a round orange light moving across the sky in a westerly direction. Both brothers thought at first it was an F111 but decided it was too high and too slow for that type of plane. What they could not make out clearly was its reddish colour surrounding the orange object while at the same time emitting something from the said object. They lost sight of the object amongst the trees in the park. The sighting lasted about two minutes.

Bob has taken a photograph of an aircraft at the Brisbane airport on Sunday 22-10-06 at 8.25am leaving Brisbane. After taking the photo and having a look at it, Bob noticed an object in the photo along with the aircraft.

Photo is being sent in to AUFORN for us to take a look at. We will find out if there was supposed to be any other aircraft in the airspace at the exact same time the photo was taken and then inspect the photograph in more detail.

More details will be posted after inspection (and along with copy of photograph if we have permission from Bob – see attached UFO 850k.JPG)

Bob used a Pentax digital 12x optical zoom. Object was approx 5-10 kms away in photo.

Similar picture was taken a few minutes prior in the same location, object was not in that particular photo, possibly eliminating a fault in the lens .There were no hot air balloons in the area at that particular time Bob has already checked that out. Daniel Sims AUFORN QLD

Thanks for responding.

As discussed with you today.

On Sunday 22nd October 2006 at 0820 and 0825 I photographed two Virgin Aircraft flying south from Brisbane airport.

I was at home at Shailer Park and photographed them with my Panasonic DMC-FZ20. 12 times optical zoom. The sun was behind me and I figure the direction I was shooting was SSW.

At a wild guess the aeroplane was five to ten km away.

When I did a review of the second photo, I thought I had taken a bad shot, as the image I was looking at looked nothing like a Boeing 737. Operating the menu button allowed  me to review the total frame. The 737 was in full view. On re checking the other object my curiosity and concern arose as it appeared to me to be in the flight path of southbound aircraft. My estimate of the size of the object was half the size of the aircraft engine.

What I observed was something to the rear of the 737 and at a higher elevation. I tried to find a phone number for Brisbane Air traffic control but was not successful. I was hoping for a radar check.

I contacted civil aviation emergency call number. They gave me Air management Australia.  They gave me the UFO hot number to report what I had seen.

Attached is the photo.
