Witness: Mr. McNamara
Number of witnesses present: 1
Sighting Duration: 1 minutes.
Occupation: Electronics Engineer
Qualifications: BachTech (Computer Systems)
Licensed Aircraft maintenance Engineer (Electrical)

Observation: I was walking under the bridge near the Parks way on ramp near the ANU. As I came out from the under bridge I saw a bright light in the sky. It was the colour of red anodised aluminium and was just hanging in the sky, possibly moving away I could not tell but it was losing altitude my the looks of it.

I just stood there looking at it for about 45 seconds then it just disappeared instantly. All I could see in the area after that was a little bit of wavy black smoke.

Description: Seemed to be loosing altitude. Possibly moving away. No sound. Location: At lake burley griffin, just passed under Parks Way at the on Ramp.

The object looked to be 2 or 3km away toward Mount Stromlo. Apparent Size Other: Hard to tell, just a small bright light Actual Size: From the distance, the size of a twin engined aircraft, Just a guess. - Altitude: 100 - 200 meters. Just a guess. - Object Origin: I first saw it in the South west and it remained there until it disappeared - Object Destination: Still the south west went it disappeared. - Weather Visibility: Clear, Mild, Sunny, Breezy Viewing Aids: Used my camera phone but didn't catch the object in time Effects Physical: Heart beat fast but only because it was an unusual situation.

Effects Psychological: Stress but only because it was a strange object. Other Experiences: I think I may have seen a UFO in the middle of the night about 27 years ago when I was a little kid driving to wagga wagga with my parents. I was pretty young.

11.09.08 MIRIAM VALE (QLD) 1815hrs (NL)
Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO Report Form
Witness: MR. Peter x
Number of witnesses present: 1
Sighting Duration: 2 minutes.

Observation: I saw a white light move across the sky. It came from a south easterly direction (roughly from Bunderberg) and travelled in a north by northwesterly direction.

While still travelling towards me it began to change course, towards a northeasterly direction. For a few moments I could still see the light appearing and disappearing behind the clouds.

I kept watching, whether the light would reappear at the end of the cloud (quite a distance away) and it did.

The light was still very strong so I quickly ran inside to get my binoculars but, as it always happens I suppose, by the time I got back the light was gone.

When I last saw the light, it was a long way away, probably out to sea already; and if so it probably would have been south of Gladstone (the nearest bigger city).

The Jumbo jets have a flight-pass across this area on their way north. Sometimes one can hear them and when it’s cold one can of course see their trails and the aircraft itself. At night they are immediately recognizable with their flashing navigation lights, sometimes even the port and starboard lights.

Helicopters cross this area (western slope of Mount Colosseum) too at times.

Description: There are a couple of things that I found strange: 1. I had the feeling that when the light (the occupants of the craft) noticed that I noticed them, they began to change course towards east and out to sea.

2. The light did not change intensity. The light was comparable in brightness to an aircraft landing light. But it didn’t look exactly like one (I don’t know how to describe that better.) The brightness or size of the light did not change as it was travelling past my location. From where it came to where I last saw it must have been at least 120 degrees or so, in other words it went right past me, at a great distance of course. I can work that out a bit more accurately.

Probably the strangest thing was that the light still had the same intensity when it was travelling away from me.

Aircraft landing lights don’t do that – they are very bright when the plane is seen head-on; but once an aircraft turns, the lights are nowhere near as effective. From side-on, I would assume, they can’t be seen at all.

Sometimes you can see the cabin lights of a passenger aircraft; again, I reckon I would know if I saw them.

The light of this thing was to bright to be cabin lights. I thought about it at the time, and it may have been possible for the sun reflecting on the object even so on the ground it was already pretty dark.

Location: At home; sitting at me favored place watching the world go by. The nearest town is Miriam Vale; my place is about 400 m off the Bruce Highway, about 10 k’s south of Miriam Vale.

Apparent Size Other: About a matchstick head sizeActual Size: At first I thought it was an aircraft landing light but I soon discarded that idea. From what I have seen, mainly helicopters, they tend to have a peculiar and distinctive wobble to them.

This light had nothing like it (it was rock-solid steady) and, what more, it was very white.

The size was much the same as when you see an aircraft landing light (helicopter) from way out.

Altitude: Hard to say.
The light was above cloud level (3/8 to 5/8 cloud cover; I’m not exactly sure). I reckon the clouds must have been at least a couple of thousand meters high probably more like 5,000 meters or so.

I reckon the light was about half as high as the jumbo jets usually are. Put differently, maybe about the altitude of the Qantas regional jet every morning at about ten to seven.

Object Origin: Came from south by south east, was heading north by northwest and then changed course to a north easterly direction while still at least 10 to 15 miles out. With the directions I can be much more specific because there are good landmarks.

Object Destination: See above.
I reckon it headed in a northeasterly direction.

Moon Visible: The moon was out and shining brightly when not covered by clouds. The moon must be about 2/3 size at this stage (I’m too lazy to go outside again to confirm this.) The moon was also almost directly above, maybe five or ten degrees to the east.

No stars were visible at that stage but I could see them through the binoculars.

Moon Size Comparison: About the size of a matchstick head, or maybe a 20th of the size of the moon as it was then; something like that. See also above.

Planets Visible: Not at the very time of the sighting; they came out later. The light was at least ten times the size of the biggest star, or more, and much clearer and brighter.

Weather Visibility: Clear, Pleasant, Cloudy, Calm - Weather Comments: Clouds were starting to go high; good weather tomorrow

Other Experiences: Yes. In Tasmania, a few years back, I saw three lights travelling in formation.
They looked very much like satellites and travelled at the appropriate speed.

My mother reported to me that on the 18. January, 2006 at about 20:00, she saw an orange light travel across our area at a fairly low level and quite slow. It’s size was about an orange she reckons.

The light's speed must have been proportionally less than that of a jumbo. I believe it was about half to two thirds the altitude of a jumbo and this thing still travelled as fast across the sky.

15.09.08 SEAFORD (VIC) 2300hrs
Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO Report Form
Witness: Mr. Mathew & mother.
Number of witnesses present: 2
Sighting Duration: 10 minutes

Observation: 2 lights appeared in the sky, appeared to hover one lower than the other. Did not seem to be a plane as they did not shift position greatly or travel any usual flight path at all i.e. no horizontal traversing. They glowed bright red and were above cloud level.

I was watching the Count Of Monte Cristo on tv and looked out our dining room window and saw in the break of clouds these two lights. I got up and went outside to get a better view, I assessed my angle and the power lines were not in my view to reflect street lights back, there was great cloud cover but they were in a break with stars visible. I wondered if they could have been flares or remnants of fireworks but they did not drift like flares remained constant colour and intensity and were too far apart to be plane lights.

I went and got my mother she came and looked at them, couldn't explain what they were and said not to worry about them. I continued to watch them, then they were enveloped by the clouds and through the clouds ceased to appear. They did shift slightly at some stage closer to each other and further apart, as well as up and down slightly but extremely slowly.

Description: Did not react like a plane, did not get bigger or smaller like one, appeared to hover.

Other Witnesses: Mother Margaret, briefly for a minute. Same residence. Apparent Size: Pea-Sized - Actual Size: Three times the size of any star present in the sky and red not white. - Altitude: Above cloud height. Object Origin: North West. - Object Destination: North West

Effects Other: Our cat started to react strange, appear frightened or disturbed like when she knows a storm is coming but worse which is why I looked towards her and then saw what was above her through the window the light's in the sky. She also threw up about 20 minutes after the lights disappeared. Not pleasant.
Effects Other Witnesses: None.
Other Experiences: No.

Source: AUFORN UFO Hotline & ONLINE UFO Report Form
Witness: Debbie, Jed, Kyra
Number of witnesses present: 3
Sighting Duration: 30 to 40 seconds
Occupation: Personal Carer (Health)

Observation: Whilst Driving, we saw a huge bright flashing lights which were orange, green and pink with a huge wide tail. It was flying down near the car which we thought was going to hit us as it was not slowing down at all. It then disappeared behind trees and scrubs, the speed it was traveling looked like it would have had to hit the ground.

Location: Chandada, Streaky Bay, South Australia Apparent Size Other: Semi Trailer - Actual Size: Semi Trailer Altitude: ten meters - Object Origin: gradually came down form the skyObject Destination: downwards towards the ground. - Moon Size Comparison: Bigger - Planets Visible: Barely any stars - Weather Visibility: Clear, Pleasant, Calm - Effects Psychological: Stressed, scared.

21.09.08 DANDENONG (VIC) 1445hrs
Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO Report Form
Witness: Miss S & partner.
Number of witnesses present: 2
Sighting Duration: 2 minutes
Occupation: Telstra

Observation: Driving from Dandenong to Cheltenham on Cheltenham rd 80km, between 2:30pm and 3:00pm Sunday 21st Sept 2008. Saw a formation of Aprox 5 UFO's, egg shaped (an egg shape on its side).

They were varying their formation. Sort of like swaping possitions. They occasionaly glistened in the sunlight and appeared to be mettalic. No apparent wings, propellers or windows. Just metalic egg shaped balls 'Floating' about. They seemed to be positioned lower than a regular airplane hieght. when we continued driving we past some low trees and by the time the trees were out of the way I lost sight of them. We also heard absolutely no sounds above. they made odd movements and very fast and smooth compared to a plane. about 5 times fast then a plane.

Description: They continued to hold their egg shape and angle. Location: dandenong. Cheltnaham road.
Other Witnesses: I was the passanger in a car my partner was driving. He was watching the road so couldn't look. It wasn't diredctly in front of us. It was out the front passenger window. Apparent Size: Pea-Sized Actual Size: about 2 1/2 - 3 times the length (from left to right) of an average airoplane.

Altitude: lower than a regular plane height but still up a decent hieght. Fair distance below the the clouds. - Object Origin: they seemed to be more focused on their formation than traveling to a certain location in the sky, although the continually stayed grouped together they did change formation constantly. They were very close together that at first I thought there was only four. Then realised there were five. Could have been more since I said the were grouped close together and I was in a moving car. almost certain it was five though.

Object Destination: our moving car and houses and trees made me loose visual of them then I couldn't see them again. Moon Size Comparison: compared to the moon from where I was viewing them they would have been approx one tenth of the size of the moon. Planets Visible: no, were many clouds. Weather: Pleasant, Cloudy, Calm

Other Experiences: once before. About 6 years ago I thought I saw a UFO in Frankston victoria not far from the cemetary. I never reported it.

22.09.08 SYDNEY, GLADESVILLE BRIDGE (NSW) 0520hrs
Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO Report Form
Witness: Mr. Bryce
Number of witnesses present: 1
Sighting Duration: 10 to 20 seconds
Occupation: Tax accountant

Observation: Traveling over Gladesville bridge on my way to swimming training which I have done for many years, 3 mornings a week I saw to my right looking towards harbour bridge/ nth sydney area I saw 2 glowing objects travelling very fast horizontally @ 45 deg angle with each other. My 1st thoughts were falling star, then sunrise reflecting on satellites, then airplanes, then helicopters. I wound down my window as I thought it was lights reflecting on the glass or if helicopters I would hear the noise, however I heard nothing & the lights were still there travelling in the same direction very fast. After ruling out (mainly because of the horizontal direction & the speed) all the above I just couldn't believe the alternatives a fair dinkum UFO sighting. I just watched while going over the bridge the 2 lights speed off in the distance over towards the Hills area, shaking my head in disbelief.

Apparent Size: Pea-Sized - Actual Size: too far away to tell - Altitude: no idea just travelling directly horizontal - Weather Visibility: Clear, Cold

22.09.08 BENTLEY (WA) 1138hrs
Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO Report Form
Witness: Mr. Dan
Number of witnesses present: 2
Sighting Duration: 30 seconds
Occupation: IT Professional

Observation: Sighting in broad daylight while standing in office carpark with colleagues at a mobile coffee van.

Facing southwest, I saw between 5 and 8 white/pale oval/circular shaped objects flying at high altitude and seemingly very high speed, crossing from left to right (from SouthEast to NorthWest). At first thought they were birds, but they did not display any "flapping" motion and moved at very high speed. The speed was about as fast as a fighter jet at high altitude which is just "cruising" rather than at full speed. They were fast enough to cross from the 1030AM position of our viewing angle (when first spotted) to the 3PM position (when we lost sight) in around thirty seconds.

They appeared to be in a loose "formation" with two of them slightly lagging, and their altitudes rising and falling slightly, in sync, rather like a fleet of birds. This was strange because they were obviously not birds, but moved a (little) bit like birds in formation, only MUCH much faster. Other people around me could not initially see them, then I realised it was easier for me to see them because I was wearing polarising sunglasses and could pick them out against the blue sky easier. Eventually one other person did see them.

It's possible they were high altitude weather balloons, but I've never seen those travel a) so fast and b) in formation.

At one point I looked at the friend I was pointing them out to to say something. When I looked back I could no longer find them in the sky at all. We looked for them for a few minutes to the west, but could not find them.

Description: There was no sound at all and the objects appeared oval or round in shape. They did not appear to change shape, but it would be very hard to tell at the altitude they appeared at.

Other Witnesses: The only other witness, like myself, is reluctant to be identified.

Apparent Size: Pea-Sized - Actual Size: Impossible to tell at that height, but at a guess I'd say as big as a small car. - Altitude: At least a kilometer, maybe two. - Object Origin: They appeared from the SouthEast, and we lost sight of them directly to our 3pm position, which would mean they were travelling to the northwest. - Object Destination: Last spotted directly west of Bentley, Western

Weather Visibility: Clear, Cold, Cloudy, Windy
Weather Comments: The cloud cover was quite minimal. Last night was an unusually cold night for this time of year (almost to freezing point), so visibility was very high.

Viewing Aids: No. However, I was wearing Polarising sunglasses, which is what made it easier to spot the objects. Effects Physical: No. - Effects Psychological: No. Mostly just awe and wondering what the objects

22.09.08 HAWKESBURY RIVER BRIDGE, BROOKLYN (NSW) 0519hrs
Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO Report Form
Witness: Mr. Dennis & Mr. Graham
Number of witnesses present: 2
Sighting Duration: 5 seconds
Occupation: Traffic Emergency Patroller

Observation: On Monday 22nd September 2008 at 5.19 a.m., myself & my work partner were traveling home after night shift. My partner was driving & we were travelling north. We were approaching the Hawkesbury River Bridge when I noticed two round lights travelling from East to West at incredible speed. I said to my partner "Look at that" but he was only able to see one of the objects, the other had just manouvered to the north & disappeared. Seconds later the other did the same thing. I then rang our local Radio station (2GO FM)to see if there were any other reports. They recorded the conversation & put it on the News. Later a Glen from Wamberal on the Central Coast rang in & said that he was walking his dog & saw them too.I hope that you could give me some explanation to what I saw.Description: No, Only the quick change of direction & disappearance (almost simultaneously). (No sounds)

Location: On the F3 travelling north across the Hawkesbury river bridge at Brooklyn. Apparent Size Other: Hard to describe, larger than dinner plateActual Size: They would have been quite large, just going by the Aircraft we see & the distance they are away. - Altitude: possibly a bit lower than normal Aircraft - Object Origin: They came from the East to the West Object Destination: Towards the North - Moon Size Comparison: Possibly half the size of a full moon - Planets Visible: Yes Weather Visibility: Clear Pleasant, Calm Weather Comments: The sun was just coming up. Effects Physical: Just Surprised. Effects Psychological: I couldn't go to sleep.

(Comment Diane) I have spoken with Dennis he is convinced these were not conventional aircraft. I have spoken with Williamtown RAAF base they informed me though they have exercises on with the US air force no F15s were flying at that hour. When asked what they the RAAF thought the objects could be and I quote "the only thing that comes to mind are UFOs, unidentified Flying Objects. I was informed Virgin Airlines have started using their runways.

I will keep you posted.

Witness: Miss. M
Number of witnesses present: 2
Sighting Duration: 1 minute
Occupation: OHSW Coordinator , Local Govt

Observation: My fiance and I were walking to the United Club at about 12:30am Friday night / Saturday morning. Moving lights in the sky caught my eye and at first glance it appeared to have been a meteor that had split into several pieces and travelling south at 'meteor' speed. I quickly pointed it out to Rick, my fiance, and we made a wish. The configuration of the lights did not change so we knew it couldn't be a meteor or meteorite. We continued watching it till it disappeared below the horizon. - Description: No sound, lighting configuration did not change, continually moved south.

Actual Size: Hard to tell. The 3 main lights of the object were large star sized, while the other 4 or so lights in the configuration were smaller star sized. If it was a size of a 747 it would have had to be a few hundred metres from the ground, but this was at flight level altitude. I think it was 1 huge object, but it may have been several objects travelling together - hard to tell at night. - Altitude: This was flying at plane flight level, lower that the 747's flying overseas but higher what small planes fly when doing scenic flights. I believe it was 1 big object as the area around and between these moving lights was black, I never saw any stars in the background behind it. So it could have been at scenic flight level. Object Origin: I first saw it as it moved south, at about 70 degrees. - Object Destination: It continued south till it disappeared out of view near the horizon. - Moon Visible: Can't say I took enough notice to remember exactly. I'd assume the moon was out as it was a clear sky, no clouds, and it wasn't pitch black. - Moon Size Comparison: The 3 main lights were large star sized, the other lights were small star sized. - Planets Visible: It was a clear sky so all the stars were visible. Weather Visibility: Clear, Mild, Calm

Other Experiences: My family & I have seen 'weird' things in Coober Pedy skies over the last 30 years, but this takes the cake.
