Tanya I am really unsure as to what I saw, but I will try to describe it as accurately as I can. Travelling back from Peake SA my friends and I were half way between Peake and Tailem Bend, when , out of the corner of my eye I saw what I thought was a shooting star, in a split second I realised it was an iridescent. blue ball shaped thing with a red/orange type of light around it that could possibly have been flames. It was trailed by a bright white stream similar to what jets leave behind in the sky. It then just seemed to explode (maybe) and disappear, like 'poof', as it was still daylight it could not possibly be a shooting star, and there is absolutely no way that it could have been 'a weather balloon'. To say that it 'freaked us out' would be an understatement. It moved very fast and the actual incidents duration is probably a matter of seconds. Unusual: it was a round, bright blue light. Heard no sound. Location: Travelling in car from Peake SA to Tailem Bend SA. Approximately half way between the two. I was the driver. Other people: My friend Zee Stevenson 4, Corella Ct, Murray Bridge 5253 was passenger in the front, and her friend Kerry was in the back. Weather conditions: fairly cloudy, still broad daylight.

Dean (30), an experienced ultra-light pilot living on the Gold Coast, related a couple of experiences.

Dean was at the lookout over looking Kooralbyn resort with two other friends, Martin and Craig. Looking west, they witnessed a silver disc like object traverse the sky from the south to the north. It was brought to their attention when the sun's rays glinted off the object. Three quarters of the way, the object appeared to change altitude by moving in a downwards direction. Duration: 15 seconds. Estimated altitude: 10-15000 feet. Robert Frola AUFORN

In 2003 Rick woke up around 1.30 am in his bedroom in Clarks County, Perth, and went to the window. Over the Indian Ocean, towards the west he saw three bluish lights of medium brightness. They were in a triangular formation and all moved in the same direction, north to south. The lights moved westwards over the ocean and then split up, one going straight up and the other two moving left to right. They then rejoined and moved together straight up like a shooting star going the wrong way. At the time Rick thought it was very strange and stayed at his window for about half an hour but didn’t see anything else. He then went back to bed. The sighting lasted five minutes. The object was first noticed as a bright white light low in the northern sky in the direction of Brisbane. It was around dawn and the light appeared bigger and brighter than the planet that was in the northwest. It was still dark but the sun was beginning to rise above the horizon and the shapes of trees and buildings could be seen in the east. The witness spent several minutes opening up the garage, shifting garden hoses and walking from the front to the back of his house then looked at the object again. It was more or less in the same position but there seemed to be more white lights. It was not clear whether it was one object or several objects close together. The witness is familiar with the domestic flights heading south overhead but the object did not display the general pattern of a plane. Clouds were beginning to affect the view. The witness remained puzzled, having a ‘funny feeling’ about the situation. It was possible that it was a balloon or helicopter. After two or three minutes, the witness became aware that the object, now solitary, was on the move and heading in his direction. It appeared to be travelling at about the same height and speed as a commercial jet leaving Brisbane Airport. It disappeared into the clouds briefly but could be seen continuing towards the witness, although slightly to the west. It was now daylight and the object appeared to be shaped like a ball, reflecting the sun’s rays although he could not see the sun yet. The object cut through more clouds then continued with the same velocity across the open sky, going almost overhead (about 80-degrees elevation) from north to south just to the west of the witness. For about ten seconds he had an excellent view of a shiny circular object, dark greyish/slate blue in colour with a pattern of parallel lines on it like the door panels of a car or aircraft. It appeared to be a perfect circle about the size of the full moon and the lines underneath were parallel with the north-south axis of motion. No sound was heard. The view was then obscured by his house and the object was not seen again. The sighting lasted about ten seconds but he had an awareness of the object for about fifteen minutes.

Lights were seen at Glenroy, Pascoe Vale and Airport West.

Paula reported: “They were too bright to be a plane. They were about one half of the brightness of a streetlight. Her husband says they were so high up that it was very hard to judge. They could not have been balloons because they were so bright.”

Lenny reported: “There were three large lights plus three other lights that were paired off in twos. They made no sound, and there were no flashing lights either. They were two to three hundred metres up, and not planes, as they were silent.”

Anthony reported: “It was about seventeen minutes past eight. There were about six lights in the east, all were orange, and all were different brightness. For about four minutes they were moving, then they did a half a loop thing, went up, dropped down, then the bottom two disappeared together, then the middle two disappeared together, then the last two disappeared.”

A report of this was shown on the Channel 9 News. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

Richard has had numerous sightings and experiences. He related an experience that occurred several month ago on a nice sunny day. Richard saw an illuminous long-shaped object high in the sky. He studied the object for several minutes, all the time trying to convince himself that he was actually seeing this object. He couldn't quite recall whether the object simply vanished or disappeared over the horizon. Movement was an erratic up and down, left to right motion. No wind. Richard said to me that numerous witnesses in the same location have seen this object on other numerous occasions. Robert Frola AUFORN
