bet. OCTOBER & NOVEMBER 1964 SYDNEY (VILLAWOOD), NSW (CE3)
(Source: Phillip Ainsworth, UFO Society Western Society)
Time:10pm
Shape:Saucer
Size:4-6metres width
Objects:1 saucer
Colour:lights _no colours
Sound:Humming
Speed: slow
Duration:15-20 minutes
Direction:Landing at a 35 degree angle
Witnesses:Anna (Herself) But Boy next door also saw being in his room next door to where Anna lived.

Case 1-22/08/2000 Subject being Anna. Prefers to be addressed as “Anna from Villawood”.In 1964, between the months of October to November, the subject was living with her parents at Villawood. At that time, the subject was 11 years of age. She claims to have gone to bed at about 10pm, shortly before the parents had. Approximately 15-20 minutes later, the subject had noticed a “deep humming” sound coming from the back yard. She immediately looked out her bedroom window to investigate. The subject claims to have sighted a disc shaped object slowly descending. The structure itself appeared to be at an approximate 35-degree angle (same angle of descent) at about 6-8 meters from the ground.

The object appeared to be slightly illumines with 4 apparent lights located in sections around the objects lower rim. However there were other faint lights projected towards the landing site, (lighting up the garden beneath) its source was not visible but appeared to have come from the under section of the object. The object then levelled itself and landed in the subject’s back yard between the two-side neighbours fence.

The distinctive “deep humming” sound then ceased. She claims that the object was&Mac178; the size of her current lounge room (4-6 metres in width) and silvery in colour. The object was described to be a “round saucery shape”. In all, the subject watched the event for approximately 2 minutes before going back to bed in fear. She then immediately fell asleep. The following morning (a Sunday), the subject woke up to hear her father upset about his burnt garden. For the coming years, her parents had difficulties growing any vegetation with in the vicinity of the apparent landing area. The subject also claims that a “tennis ball sized bottomless hole” was discovered in the neighbours back yard, next to the fence.

Conclusion:
The neighbour’s son called Kevin who was 8-10 years old at the time of the event claims to have seen unusual humanoid life forms in his room (little green men). Kevin refuses to be interviewed. However, Phil and I met the mother Mrs Schofield on 5/9/00 after taking soil samples in Anna’s mother’s back yard at the alleged landing site in Villawood. Mrs Schofield lives at number 24. Mrs Schofield claims that Kevin, who is now 44 years of age, told her how there was this little man (3.5-4 ft tall) with an exceptionally large head and thin body stood in his room (which at the time faced the back yard) staring at him. The boy said he was frightened and drew his head under the blanket. Shortly after he peered out to see if the figure had disappeared. It had not. Finally the boy became so frightened, he jumped out of his bed and snuck in to his sisters bed who was lying next to Kevin, asleep.

The boy drew his sisters blanket over his head, only to check on the figure shortly after. It was still watching the boy. Kevin drew the blanket over himself and fell asleep. We asked Mrs Schofield if Kevin could contact us through e-mail or phone call. We are still waiting to hear from Kevin. Regarding the landing, there were no other witnesses and the back yard was not illuminated by any other external lighting.

The subject suffers from migraines and is light and heat sensitive. She claims to have had spiritual encounters (being held down in her bed some years later and released after closing her eyes and praying). Also feels a sense of paranoia as if something or some things are watching her. She says to have seen dark figures with large eyes embeded in the wall of her previous residence. Subject collects statues of Siamese cats with large heads and large tear shaped eyes and thin bodies. She says that she collects them, but dislikes them and feels uncomfortable when they are in front of her or “when they stare” at her. The subject seems to be immune to common colds, viruses etc. Phillip Ainsworth UFO Society Western Sydney

17.12.99 SYDNEY (nr SHARK ISLAND, CRONULLA), NSW DAYTIME (CE1)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 00861)
On approx 17th Dec 99 Daniel and two friends were on the beach near shark Island, Cronulla area, at about 3 or 4am when a rectangular fog rolled in from the ocean. It was 200 mtrs wide and about 100 mtrs high. It changed to an egg shape and appeared see thru, the witness described it as see thru mercury. It then took off at a 45 degree angle away to the south. The duration of the sighting was approx 1 minute. Prior to this they had noticed bright lights circling and hovering like bright stars. They seemed to move telepathically with their wishes. They appeared about 300 mtrs off shore. At one stage they looked like a tea cup with a light strip. They appeared to be mining something as the red and green light hovered over the water. These movements were observed for about 2 hours and altogether 5 or 6 objects were seen. The others in the group were reluctant to accept what they had seen but they asked others on the beach with mixed reactions. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

12.02.00 NEWCASTLE, NSW 2030-2100hrs (CE1)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 00616)
Brenda was in the kitchen on the phone to her sister, when she noticed an orange light out the window. The orange light appeared to have white undertones to it. Brenda is familiar with rescue helicopters that routinely fly over her area..this was not a helicopter. There was no sound as the object seemed to travel just above her neighbour’s roof although her two German shepherds wined at the back door. The objects appeared to be gliding above high tension wires and an aerial in the distance that the witness is not sure of in regard to it’s purpose. The duration of the sighting was approx 5 to 10 mins as it travelled from nor east to south-west. A second orange light was then seen and then a third. They travelled in a horizontal line, then stopped and formed a circle. Brenda’s Husband works at an airport so she rang him to see if could verify, but the airport is too low to have clear sight of the objects. At this point a fourth object appeared, travelling at much greater speed than the other three. The fourth object then dropped a bright light that descended at great pace, but the fourth object continued to shine just as bright. The objects then dissipated in several directions at great speed and appeared to be moving away from the witness. The objects seemed to be all the same distance away and were evenly spaced for the most part. The witness rang Williamtown Air base and was referred to 013. The variable speeds reported do not seem to fit with illuminated garbage bags also the fact that at one point before the fourth object joined the objects appeared stationary again to not fit the pattern. I will be following up with police stations and newspapers to gain further reports and information. It could be illuminated garbage bags but the differing speeds and directions are confusing to that scenario, also the witness was quite sure the objects moved away from her rather that just going out. The time of the sighting was between 8.30 and 9.00 pm. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

14.03.00 NEWCASTLE (HUNTER VALLEY), NSW 0430hrs (IDENTIFIED AS VENUS)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 00618)
Alison’s two small children alerted her to a bright star like object at approx 4.30am that appeared like a supernova, very bright with silver sparks flying off it to about one to three cm relatively. Duration was approx one hour then Alison went to bed. The object appeared stationary for the most part, although appeared to move about one cm higher before returning to original position. It was below the level of the other stars and above the level of the scattered cloud. The object appeared to have lateral movement of approx one and a half cm’s over a mountain. The sparks seemed to dim toward the end of the hours observation. The object was seen in a south-south-westerly direction. This is the part of the sky and time when Venus could be seen. Venus is rising at approx 4am and is particularly bright at the moment. Due to the effects of humidity causing the lower atmosphere to be lumpy and thick, Scintillation would be greater than normal and due to it’s low position above the horizon at that time this sighting is most likely to be Venus. Witness is staying up tonight to see if the same effect happens tonight, she will let us know the outcome. The apparent downward movement of the object may be due to inversions in the atmosphere caused by the high humidity. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

13.04.00 CANBERRA, ACT 1630hrs (CE1)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 00653)
The witness was driving along Haydon Drive, travelling from north to south, at around 4:30 pm on Monday afternoon. He looked up and noticed a ‘bizarre’ red object in the sky, which appeared to be ‘moving fairly fast’ in a west to east direction. He took a left turn into the street that goes to Bruce TAFE so that he could pull up in hope of getting a better view of the object, but by the time he turned the corner he had lost sight of it and he could not find it again.

The witness estimated and he had the object in sight (through his car windscreen) for approximately 5 to 6 sends before it was lost behind the car roof. The sky was overcast and he said the object showed up distinctly as a red ‘blob’ against the grey background. He estimated its apparent size as that of a small marble held at arm’s length. It appeared to be keeping a steady pace. The witness expressed surprise that no-one else in the peak hour traffic seems to have noticed the object.

The only thing the witness could think of that the object might have been was a model aeroplane, although they are not normally flown over this part of Canberra (there is a model aeroplane flying club near Fyshwick on the other side of town).

At this stage I have no suggestions as to what the object might have been. Clare Williams (Independent Investigator)

13.04.00 SYDNEY (SYDENHAM), NSW 1720-1730hrs (CE1)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 00663)
Michael was on Sydenham station when he heard a sound like a jet but could not see anything. Later , below the clouds he saw a lime green light, blobby, not round, blurred on the edges. The sound was like an Iriquois helicopter, a crack sound with a higher pitch, a roar then nothing. The man next to him said that was spooky. The sound did not taper off. The duration of the sound was approx 4 secs, the object was visible for approx 2-3 minutes. The light was stationary the whole time. There was a train derailment at Redfern station at around the same time. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

MAY-JUNE 2000 Kariong (Gosford area), NSW 2223hrs (MYSTERIOUS NOISE)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 00890d)
Not long after in May-June the witness was awakened by a loud humming noise at 10.23pm. The humming appeared to be just above her roof. She yelled to her partner (who was wearing headphones at the time) who only heard the humming as it was stopping. The humming left not as gradual as a jet or chopper, both of which are familiar to the witness as she grew up near Richmond air base. The humming lasted approx 2 seconds or perhaps a bit longer. Witnesses: 2. Witnesses Tony in Forbs and Gary his son who was 300 klm away on the road from Merriwa to Dunedoo in NSW.

Tony said: I have never seen anything like it and this is the first time I have ever thought of calling a UFO hotline. I have a back ground as a pilot so I am familar with the constalations and aircraft. What I saw was like nothing I have ever seen before. I saw 8 orange balls of light in a formation of a string of pearls. These objects lit up some what like a firework. The objects went slowly down behind MT Jemalong I could see the whole Mountain light up as it went slowly behind it. My son who was at Merriwa some three hundred klm awaysaw the same thing he called me right away he thought he was seeing a plane crash to the ground. He said it looked really big to him. He said: dad it must have been huge to you as you were closer than me.

Still under investigation. Diane Harrison AUFORN

13.06.00 Perth (ORELIA), WA 1820hrs (NL)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 00756)
The witness was looking north and noticed a very bright white starlike object hovering below a cloud layer at about 1500ft. He watched for some 15 minutes. The object took off at great speed into the clouds and instead of the white light, four red lights appeared briefly in a horizontal arrangement before disappearing with the main object. Witness insists it was not any sort of conventional craft, backing up this declaration by several year’s of work at Perth Airport. Brian Richards ASPR/UFORUM

Shape: Ball
Size: Small
Objects: One
Colour: Orange
Sound: NIL
Duration: approx 3 min
Direction: travelling East
Weather Conditions: Clear night sky
Witnesses: Peter, Kim and next door neighbour

On Tuesday the 20th at 8.00pm, Peter whilst outside, saw a small orange ball in the sky, he called out to his wife to come and have a look. Peter said “It was orange in colour, like when you burn a piece of paper, the colour of the flame”. Whilst they were outside observing the object, Peter called out to his neighbour, who was standing in his front yard, to have a look. His neighbour also confirmed that he saw the object.

The object was approx 50 metres high, travelling East on a parallel course. During the 3min sighting it held a constant speed and height. They did not hear any noise coming from the object and as they continued to watch, the colour remained constant then it seem to flicker as it lost altitude and disappeared.

Peter states, that during the years he and his wife have lived in this house, they have become accustomed to the various planes that fly over due to the nearby Parafield Airport. They both state, that what they saw, was not a plane, his neighbour agrees.

His wife Kim contacted the UFO Hotline not only to report this sighting, but to see if anyone else had reported something similar. Charmaine Ballam AUFORN SA

Size: When 5 - saucer size ...when 1 - dinner plate
Objects: 5
Colour: White
Sound: Nil
Duration: 5 mins approx
Direction: heading East
Witnesses: 1 - Adriana
Weather conditions - cloudy sky, wet

Adriana was driving in the Croydon area of Adelaide. She first spotted something through her drivers side {RH} window, but since it was wet she originally thought it was just glare. But as she continued to watch it, she realised that it wasn’t. She then stopped her car and pulled over to the curb, wound down her window to get a clear look.

The sky was cloudy, and she originally thought it was someone shining light onto the bottom of the clouds. As she continued to watch, she realised that no, these lights were more above the clouds. A plane flew by, confirming not only that fact, but the fact that this was something different and unusual.

Whilst watching these 5 lights in random formation, she saw them join to form one large ball of light, then split and go clockwise into 5 separate balls, they repeated this a few times, as they kept moving rapidly east until out of sight.

The sighting lasted approx 5 mins. I asked Adriana if the road that she was on was busy, did she see anyone else that may have been watching these lights. She told me yes it was busy and that she had seen one car as she was driving past pulled over, but did not know if they were also watching what she was. I also asked if she could see any visible night sky, to which she replied no, it was completely cloud covered.

She also told me that she wrote everything she saw down right away, then rang the UFO hotline to see if anyone else had reported something like this. Charmaine Ballam AUFORN SA

29.06.00 PERTH (LESMURDIE), WA 2032hrs (CE1)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 00774)
Louise and a friend were watching the stars looking East, at Lesmurdie in the Perth Hills 7.30pm 29/6/00. They saw an unusual V-shaped white light emitting blue, red, yellow and green colours drop down to tree-top height, move to the right (South) and stop. After a couple of seconds the object shot up into the sky to about 70 degrees where it remained stationary till they went to bed. The following night they checked the the (sky) area but did not see the object again. Louise phoned the Bickley Astronomical Observatory and encountered some off-putting rudeness. She was told that her sighting was nothing more than a ‘dying star’ and to leave it at that. She will not report any future sightings to the Observatory. Brian Richards ASPR/UFORUM

Tahlie and her mother we returning home to Venus Bay travelling along the South Gippsland Hwy between Wonthaggi and Inverloch at about 9pm on Monday 10 July 2000 when they saw an unusual light up ahead. It appeared as what a bright star does when seen through trees. However there were no trees in the particular area. As they watched this light it approached them at an alarming speed. In about one second it came from about one half of one kilometre ahead and passed right next to their car and disappeared behind them into the distance. It was not very high when it passed them because Mrs. C could clearly see spark trails just outside her drivers side window. There was no sound. It moved so rapidly that they could not gauge its size.

They were both left with the impression that they had seen something odd. Then Tahlie decided to report it. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

On Saturday night 15th July at about 11pm DW saw 3 amber lights flying overhead at very high altitude in a line towards the S.W. These lights were widely spaced and evenly spaced apart. The witness often sees many aircraft in the area where she lives which is Mooroolbark, a South Eastern suburb in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. These lights were eerie because they were “silent” and they followed each other while being spaced. The witness wishes to remain anonymous. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

16.07.00 MELBOURNE (MILL PARK), VIC ca.2156hrs
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 00803)
This sighting occurred during the Lunar Eclipse of July 16 2000. Firstly, a flashing light came over a group of people who were outside waiting to observe the eclipse. This Light was unusual because it was silent and it stopped, and then shot off at high speed. Secondly, two flashing lights came over and did the same thing, stopped, and then took off.

Thirdly, another flashing light came over, this one resembling a fireball, stopped and then changed colour from red to green and blue and produced or ‘poured out’ a very intensely bright light which was followed by an intense explosion.

The whole street saw it, according to CC. After the explosion the object flew off at about a 45 degree angle and disappeared. The local police were contacted, soon afterwards the ‘Mill Park’ police said a ‘car’ ‘blew up’’ in the area.

This was not a rational explanation as no exploded cars were reported in the area. Another witness about 2km away also saw the light stop, and saw the sudden very bright light and heard the explosion. Needless to say the eclipse fell into insignificance in the minds of those witnesses who later had difficulty getting to sleep with the events of the evening staying in their minds. Shape: Elongated ball shape [possible cigar shape]
Objects: 2
Colour: Grey/silver metallic
Sound: nil
Duration: approx 12 mins
Direction: travelling SSW - East, then South to North
Conditions: Clear blue sky, no planes/birds or clouds observed
Witnesses: Jim and Andy

Jim and Andy are both Pest/Weed controllers and they were out on a job. Jim was gauging the wind to see if it was blowing too strong [due to the fact that spraying cannot be done in strong wind]. He did so by glancing at a tall tree nearby, whilst doing this something caught his eye at a 45 degree angle approx 3- 5 km away from their location, in the sky.

Jim [who had sunglasses on]thought that he was seeing 2 balloons just floating in sky but as he continued to look at the objects realised that they were not balloons but something else/different. He turned around to his friend/co-worker Andy and said ‘Hey have a look at that’. Andy [who didnt have sunglasses on] said ‘Yes they look like 2 metal elongated balls’.

They both continued to watch the objects for a few more seconds, when they saw one of the objects start to do circular movements around the other, ie: circling quickly around the other about 4 times. Then the other object moved horizontally - front to back, around the other for 5 or 6 times then stopped. Approx 30 secs after they had stopped, Jim took his glasses off and noticed that both objects had a ‘grey aura or dark cloud defined shape, like bees were encompassing them. This cloud/aura seemed to pulsate strongly and then the objects disappeared. Jim’s friend Andy confirmed that.

Jim then glanced back at Andy to see if he had seen all that, which he had. Then within 2 secs he glanced back at the sky and the objects had moved from their 45 degree angle to be directly 500 metres above them. Andy said to Jim ‘ Here they are here!’ Andy at the time was on the other side of their truck. The objects then looked as if they were on top of each other. They also appeared to be 4 times bigger and clearly metal and oval shaped body. Jim and Andy agree that the objects must have travelled against wind at least 5 - 6 km to be directly above them.

By the time Jim looked back after again checking with Andy that he was seeing all of this, the objects had gone. Andy who had a clearer view said they just where there one minute the next gone...just disappeared.

After discussing this sighting with Jim, I asked if he would be happy to fill in an AUFORN UFO report form, which he agreed to, stating that he would be able to draw what he saw etc. Jim has also asked for AUFORN website address, which I have supplied. Charmaine Ballam AUFORN SA

Reportee saw two nights in a row 2 or 3 brighter than brightest star like objects travelling the first night west to east and the second night south to nor nor east. They glowed white and suddenly went to half brightness before disappearing. These sound like satellites catching the rays of the sun. yrs earlier he and two others saw a big blue pulsating light on the ground on a cow paddock in the Dorrigo area. They had pulled over to have a sleep, they watched for approx 20 mins. It was car size and about 300 mtrs away. It was about 3am in the morning, he was very vague about why he didn’t investigate and if they were scared why did they hang around for 20 mins. Two weeks later whilst travelling as a pillion on a motor bike he noticed the same light at the same place at about 12.30am. There was no sound on both occasions. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

That is when he spotted a silver disc in the sky, from where he was standing and the height of the disc it appeared to be about the size of a 10c piece. Shelia’s husband then called out for her to come outside and have a look. They both then continued to watch the ‘display’ that was happening.

During observation, Shelia stated that they saw various and numerous craft, differing in size/shape/colour.

They were travelling steadily from West to East. Where Shelia lives is a beach side suburb, so the craft was coming from St. Vincents Gulf [west] moving steadily eastward, until reaching the line of the top of Adelaide Hills [east], where upon reaching the hilltop line they just seem to vanish. This sighting took approx. 90mins for the craft to travel from the beach to the hills.

One thing of particular importance and note, is that from the very first time both of the witnesses started to see the various craft(s), Angel Hair had started to fall. It continued to fall whilst the objects/craft went across their house and continued on their travel to the Adelaide Hills. Shelia stated that she felt that the Angel Hair had been falling as the craft/objects approached her house. Even after the craft/objects etc had finished passing over Shelia and her husband, the Angel Hair continued to fall.

Shelia states it fell in great big wads/strands. Some actually fell on top of her house/chimney and her TV antennae, some even luckily fell close by to her onto her gate post. Shelia knew that to try and touch or grab Angel Hair was difficult if not impossible. So, she grabbed a branch that just had been pruned off a tree by her husband to gather it up. She said the strand that she was trying to get was Long silver cobweb like in colour and texture. Sadly, once Shelia had touched the Angel Hair with the branch, it shrivelled up and evaporated.

I asked Shelia if I could send her out a AUFORN UFO Report form for her and her husband to fill in. She agreed, and also stated that they had been in touch with Colin Norris, who has also sent a report form to fill in.

Points of interest: CB

1. There have been other reports of Angel Hair falling on the beach at Aldinga, a suburb approx. 15 mins [by car] further down the coast from Old Noarlunga at the same time that Shelia and her husband had their sighting(s) - Saturday 5/8/2000. I have been informed that a person who works at the hospital I work at, was at Aldinga beach walking his dog at the time, that he saw, touched and tried to grab some of the Angel Hair as it fell. He has stated that the Angel Hair was falling in large amounts all along the beach front, but when it touched the sand or water, it just evaporated, he also has stated that he saw a ‘bright light’ at the time of the Angel Hair falling. I am in the process of arranging a meeting time that is suitable for both of us, to discuss/investigate this further.

2. I asked Shelia how she knew so much about Angel Hair, i.e.: not to touch by hand and to try and obtain some for testing. She told me that she not only was a clairvoyant, but had had an intense interest in the ufo phenomenon since 1967 when whilst driving back from Wallaroo thru Kadina [SA Country], the car she was in, just stopped for no reason. Her husband at the time, was angry as the vehicle had had no trouble/problems before, but now it seemed all the electrical systems and engine had died on them. They had no lights and there were no lights anywhere on the road. Her husband got out of the car to see what the trouble was, as Shelia looked out of her window to see what he was doing, she saw approx. 6 - 8 feet above her a perfect circle of red/green lights. She told me that there was NO Sound, to them, they just floated/sat there. They blinked on and off 3 times, before just disappearing. Ever since then she has been very much interested in the ufo phenomenon. Charmaine Ballam AUFORN SA

John walked outside to have a smoke when he saw a round yellow/orange glow high up with no tail travelling about the speed of a plane. It was an overcast night with no stars and the object appeared about 20 times the size of a plane and was heading south. They obtained approx 60 seconds of video footage before the object disappeared. There was a white ring inside the outer glow and the duration of the sighting was approx 2 minutes. They rang Mascot, the federal police and Channel 9 who told them it was Mir space lab. Paula said she was driving up the Mt Lindsay HWY. towards Browns Plains when she spotted a strange looking object in the sky. Paula said the object appeared to be quite still..it didn’t move. Its was very bright but when the brightness disappeared there was a silver doom left in the sky. Then the doom looked like it was sucked backwards and disappeared.

Paula said she was sure it wasn’t a plane.?

Comment: DH
Being a local resident of this area for over 3 years it was quite common to mis-identify planes that leave Brisbane airport... MT Lindsay Hwy is right on the fight path south to Sydney. I’m just being the devils advocate here.

A plane with the landing lights on heading towards you could appear to be getting bigger in size. With the additional glare of the morning sun the object could also appear to be a different shape. This object was said to go backwards and disappear.

This effect could be attributed to a number of factors.
1. The plain banked away from the light source making it appear to disappear backwards.
2. The plains turn of their landing light after a certain distance from the airport making it look like it disappeared.

Elle said she live near the Archiefield Airport and she quite familiar with planes. This is her report of what happened... “I saw the first one at 8.20pm. It had a tail then it split into two and then both traveled together in a straight line but very slowly so it couldn’t be a meteorite but there was what looked like a sparkle in the sky some what like tinsel.

Then I was amazed when out of nowhere there were 6 more objects. These objects just didn’t act like planes at all. They changed formation from a straight line horizontally to what appeared to be like stacking above each other.. some what like a truning pirouette in slow motion. I watched these things and I have never seen anything like it before. I want you to know this Diane I don’t believe in UFOs but for the life of me I didn’t know what I was looking at or what it was.”

(Q) Do you think it could have been anything from the Brisbane Expo?
(A) No because last year the only thing I saw was the F111 doing a dump and burn.. and this was nothing like that. Then an unusual thing happened they all went star like and just got swallowed up and disappeared.

Andrew said he went out side to check on his neighbour’s house at around 7.35pm. When he noticed a bright yellow glowing abject in the Westerly sky from his house located at Jindalee. He called his wife out to have a look at the object asking her to bring his binoculars. He said they watched the object for around 3 minutes. The Object moved away in an easterly direction, the speed was something what like a jet.

Andrew said he thought it may have been an F111 doing a dump and burn. So he rang Amberley Air Force Base. They informed him they had no planes in the area at that time. He said he got a feeling he was being fogged off by the lady on the other end of the line. So he insisted they check their radar. He said: if it wasn’t one of theirs, “then they should be made aware of it”.

He said: As I was looking at it through my binoculars I could see flames coming from it. He said: If it was a prank then this was a good one and if kids are behind this and are able to make an object travel as fast as a jet “with flames coming out of it horizontally” then their clever kids. So No I don’t think it was the garbage and a fire lighter trick, “that’s for sure”. He said: “I rang the Brisbane Astronomical Society and they said the object was travelling too slow for a meteorite.” Robert Frola AUFORN

Paul was near the cnr of First Ave and Blaxland Rd at approx 4.30pm watching the Olympic flame travelling thru Eastwood looking toward the West, in the Parramatta direction, when he noticed a stationary, slightly larger than, star like object. The object was observed for approx 10 seconds, very low on the horizon, approx 5 degrees above the horizon. Paul rubbed his eyes and moved his gaze to confirm it was not due to a floater in his eyes. Paul then grabbed a camera but as he brought the camera to his face he noticed thru peripheral vision that the object had moved suddenly at great speed to the East toward Chatswood. The object was like a 2-inch blur as it left Paul’s vision, he estimated that the object would have travelled from Parramatta to Chatswood in 3 to 4 seconds. The object travelled over the right shoulder of Paul. The object was only visible for a brief time after moving and Paul estimated where its flight path might have been. If the rapid movement was not an optical illusion, I have no explanation for the sighting. If the rapid movement was an optical illusion, it may have been a plane coming at an angle that maximised its reflection that then altered it’s flight path, appearing to disappear. Dezie and Dave live across from the ocean, they noticed a bright star like object over the ocean. It twinkled red then blue and was viewed from 10.00pm till 2.00am. After 1 hour a second and third light was noticed to the right and the left of the original sighting. The object was viewed thru binoculars but did not reveal form. The object on the right was higher than the horizon whilst the object on the left was level with the horizon. A passenger plane climbed to the height of one of the objects before levelling off. The police station at Foster said they had received similar reports but said they were flares. I suspect Venus, Jupiter and a bright star. I have asked Dezie to check that part of the sky at the same time over the next couple of nights and also to get accurate readings of degrees above horizon and directions. I will then check whether we have culprits in that area at that time. The objects only appeared to move slightly, in line with possible scintillation effects. The objects were stationary when noticed and the couple went to bed with the objects in roughly the same position at that time. Dezie will ring me in the next few nights to confirm if the lights are in the same position. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW
