On the night of 4 December 2005, around 9.00 pm, John was outside looking at the sky from his backyard. He noticed a bright orange coloured light. He thought it looked unusual, so he got his binoculars to get a better look. He was shocked to find that the binoculars resolved the one light into three. They were placed according to a perfect tri-formation. But then, as he watched, the lights changed position. The lights moved in sequence to take up the tri-formation again but simply occupied different positions. For instance, the top light of an isosceles arrangement, moved down behind the base two to form a straight line. But at that moment the leading light of a string of three moved up to take its place. On each occasion that the lights changed places, the gaps between each light were even and the movements always resulted in the same shape with no difference in angular separation. He described the size of the naked eye object as bigger than a star, more like a distant, amber streetlamp. The object was seen for 10 to 15 minutes and it did not change position in the sky of some 45-deg above the horizon in the southwest. After this, he had to go inside for an hour, but when he returned, they were still there. The same motions were going on. Eventually, he had to stop observing and no other times were logged. Denise was driving towards Frankston along the Nepean highway near Bonbeach at about 10.15 pm. She noticed something that looked like a helicopter flying sideways, right over the road, not as high as a plane. It had one red light and a large green square light. It was ahead of her and made no sound. She estimated it was the size of a tram. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

Sighting of UFO on the 8 December 2005 at Bangor, New South Wales
I was driving home after picking my daughter up from work at 10.00 pm. We were casually talking in the car and she asked me to drive slowly down the road to watch out for any animals that cross. As we turned into Bangaroo Street, Bangor, and started driving down the hill, we saw a very bright ball of light coming down from the sky on our left at an angle, it then flew upwards and crossed in front of us before swooping downwards and shooting back up into the sky at an extremely fast speed, then suddenly disappearing into thin air. Peter lives at Bolton Point Newcastle, NSW, near the airport. Aircraft landing is a common sight to residents of the area. But, on 8 December 2005 at 8.30 pm, he observed a plane in the sky coming into land with a difference. The problem was the aircraft appeared to have a white ball in front of it, as if leading the plane down. Peter was sure the objects were separate. They appeared to have landed together. He lost sight of them at that point.

On the 20 or 21 December, Peter made another bizarre observation. It was around 6.00 pm and still light. Peter was facing east overlooking the water. An object travelled from the west (behind him) toward the east. The object screamed low over his head. Peter described it as pink in hue and it had a tail. The object disappeared close to the water level. The scariest thing for Peter was the low altitude, described by Peter as being around three times the height of the trees in his area. Harry saw yellow things at night in Montrose. There were three yellow lights in the sky in a triangle formation, Venus was northwest of this area and quite different. The lights turned orange, first one then all three, which then spread out and disappeared. They then came back together again before disappearing and reappearing again. They looked strange, moving in an easterly direction, in a bunch of three at around 10.30 or 10.40 pm. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

EARLY DECEMBER LAUNCESTON (WAVERLEY), TASMANIA EARLY EVENING (NL)

In the eastern suburb of Waverley, Paul was sitting on his front verandah looking across at the western hills of Launceston when he saw a large old style aeroplane coming over the hill. He said to his girlfriend, “Hang on, this doesn’t look too good,” as it looked like it was going to crash into the city centre. It continued towards them then suddenly disappeared. The silent old fashioned large winged aircraft was visible for fifteen seconds.

The witness did not think it went behind a hill or cloud. With no exact date the report cannot be checked against any special activities over Launceston. The sun may have been in that general direction, depending on the time. It may have been some sort of reflection. No other calls were made. Keith Roberts TUFOIC and Robert Frola AUFORN

Suzanna was out with her mother, on holidays in Hobart, Tasmania. It was mid December 2005, and one evening, just on dusk, they saw a metallic “thing” over the river which was reflecting the sunlight at a low angle. The object was only about 20 ft above the river surface, and it was an elongated egg shape about 100 meters across. They were so surprised that they stopped the car so they could keep on looking at it. They saw it for about another 15 seconds, then it suddenly disappeared. Susanna’s mother  is a psychologist, and was very skeptical before this, now she is a bit more open minded. Number of witnesses: 2. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

Two witness:  Natalie was driving home at about 10.00 p.m. on Diddlibah Road, a 10 km long and winding rural country road traversing from Bli Bli to the Woombye area. She observed two balls of light, white in colour, approximately the size of a grapefruit travelling at  approximately 20 metres above the tree line.

The lights disappeared in and out of her vision as the road curved and one light appeared to disappear completely. Natalie was worried about the one ball of light that remained, travelling constantly ahead on the roadside above the tree line and so she decided to phone her parents and ask them to meet her on the road.  Her sighting lasted the whole distance, a total of 10 kms. She was met by her parents in Woombye and they also witnessed the object as it appeared to have stopped in mid air. The object was apparently still in the area for 30 minutes and was still there when they left Woombye to go home. Natalie had never seen anything like it before, but had heard about other sightings in the area. AUFORN QLD

Donna was driving along Bribie Road, Caboolture when she observed a strange object appearing just under Venus. It appeared as a white, long flame-like light which she described as being like a shaped like a jet afterburner. There was no sound or disturbance noted as the object travelled across the sky and then apparently travelled upwards into the atmosphere and then came downwards again, made a left turn and continued travelling horizontally, height unknown. Donna observed the object for 10 minutes and it was witnessed by another carload of people that had stopped to take a look.Donna returned home and saw it was still there, this time it appeared to be travelling downwards to the ground and appeared to have changed shape to a thin, long light. Peter is a sky watcher and amateur astronomer. He explained to me that he was familiar with satellites and how the sun reflects on them. On the night of 20 December 2005, at around 10.10 pm, Peter, along with his son, witnessed something very strange. He noticed four star-like points of light travelling across an arc in the sky. They were in a perfect line, like a “string of pearls” moving symmetrically and in formation approximately 2 to 3-degrees apart. Thirty seconds later, two more lights followed the exact same arc and heading. This totally freaked out the witness. He said he had never seen anything like it. He watched them travel from south to north until they disappeared from view.

Peter said he believed them to be high in altitude, definitely not planes and that they moved across the centre of a perfectly clear sky. He was aware that it was reflected light from the Sun and that they dimmed and disappeared once they had travelled far enough around the curve of the Earth to no longer catch the suns rays. Peter declared that they were travelling through the Orion’s Belt area of the sky.

He rang the RAAF who said that they didn’t take reports. He was told to ring Telstra who subsequently directed him to the hotline. Larraine Cilia, AUFORN, NSW.

On the 20 December 2005 at 11.45 pm, Michael was working in Stanix Park Road, Wilberforce, in the Hawkesbury area, when he happened to look up into the sky and saw a bright star-like object. It was a clear blue sky and he thought it unusual to see a star in the midday sky, but at such a high altitude, he was unable to think of anything else it could have been. He called over two mates to have a look at it.

He entered a truck and didn’t alight until 12.20 am in the same area. He noticed that the star-like object was still there. He once again called his friends over. The object was sitting in a southeasterly position and as they were watching, the object suddenly took off towards the west at a great speed and twice zigzagged back and forth across the sky. The object returned to the original westerly position and then suddenly moved in a great arc from west to east, subsequently disappearing.

It was too erratic to be a plane or a satellite of any sort. Michael declared he had “seen nothing on earth as fast, and I’ve seen fast jets”.

He said, “I got the feeling they were watching us and the equipment we were using was flashing red and blue lights. I wondered if it was attracted to this”.

He declared he was not in the habit of making things up and that his son was a regular in the army in the Northern Territory. He rang the RAAF, but they said that no other reports had come in and that they had no activities in the sky. Most active air personnel were on leave on that day. Larraine Cilia, AUFORN, NSW.

On 25 December 2005 at 11.10 pm on a farm in Canowindra near Orange, New South Wales, the witness (27) was outside the farmhouse having a smoke when a light came from the sky. He got his video camera and filmed it for about 10 minutes. The six white lights were in the east, above the horizon, estimated at about one kilometre away. He described it as being as big as the moon and that it passed overhead. It appeared to make a fun sound [but I] cannot tell you the sound. The entire sighting lasted for thirty minutes and the report states that there were two witnesses. This sighting is currently under investigation. E-mail Report 26.12.05

On 28 December 2005, D. (17) was on the ferry at Wiseman's Ferry, New South Wales, when he looked to the southwest and saw strange hovering lights, which sped up and flew behind the mountain (west to east movement). Moments later he saw another light close by but in a second it had disappeared. He got out of the car as the one from behind the mountain returned and hovered low above the trees. He could hear a hovering sound then the light sped up and was out of sight within seconds. A third one repeated the moves but just as it was out of sight there was a bright flash as it disappeared.

The sighting lasted about five minutes. He estimates that the object came closer than 500 metres and was about 60 metres above the ground. He describes the objects as having hovered and spun, [then] they blinked and cast light. E-mail Report 29.12.05

Michelle P. Duration:  5 minutes, Witnesses:  Neighbours
Michelle was listening to the countdown for New Years Eve on TV and heard her neighbours say "Oh my God, what's that?" Michelle noticed that the insects outside had suddenly stopped and everything went quiet. Michelle went outside looked up and noticed three large orange/red coloured fireballs coming east towards Burpengary.  The three balls of light travelled in a straight line, possible a couple of kms spaced apart and appeared to have flames falling off them. The objects travelled over the neighbouring houses well above the treeline and came around the back of Michelle's house and then shot off in a northerly direction. The objects were witnessed by the neighbours as well.  It was noted that the insects outside appeared to start back up again after an apparent "Oz Factor" of 5 minutes duration. Michelle didn't know what the balls of light were, but found the experience very strange. AUFORN QLD
