Ray and a female companion were on the way home from a party travelling through Old Reynella, at approximately 23:30hrs. They were travelling on a straight stretch of road heading south when Ray observed a strange object in the sky. It was the size of a half-moon and cigar shaped. It was a silver-grey colour. Ray said the object was at an angle of 45-degrees from the ground in a southerly direction. He said the strange thing about the object was that it looked as if it was damaged, as if it had been hit by missile or something.

He thinks the object was approximately 3 to 5kms away. As Ray was watching the object, within a blink of an eye it was over his vehicle, he could not believe how fast it travelled. He said the object hovered over his vehicle, no more than 5 metres above the roof. His vehicle then lit up with an ultra bright white light that was so powerful that it blinded him and the female companion. He said he could not see past the bonnet of the vehicle. While the bright light covered the vehicle he heard what sounded like a camera flash going of but it was much louder. He did not hear any other sounds coming from the object.

Ray does not know how long the bright light was over his vehicle, but he thinks it was no more than a minute, but feels for some reason that it could have been longer. He said when he was blinded by the light from the object, he kept on driving; he does not know why he did not pull over. There was no other traffic on the road at that time.

When the bright light dissipated, the object had vanished; he does not what direction it went. The female companion said, “Did you see that, thank-god I thought I was hallucinating”. Ray said that they never discussed the incident or even talked to each other on the way home. The trip home took longer than it should have; this is why he thinks the UFO encounter may have been longer than a minute. He believes there could been missing time involved. He said during the encounter he may have been in an altered state and had a sensation of being displaced and then replaced. He feels that it could have been some type of abduction. He has very little memory of the events that took place that night He said he is starting to get memory flashbacks from what happened but did not want to go into detail.

Ray was asked if the vehicle was effected in anyway, he said that he had just had his vehicle tuned and serviced recently but after the encounter with the object the vehicle was running rough and backfiring. Ray said he has to take the vehicle back to be repaired. He believes that the object affected the mechanics of the vehicle but does not know how.

He was also asked if the encounter with the object affected him physically? He said he had rashes on his fingers that he did not have before the encounter. He believes that the rash may be connected to the encounter. Ray feels that the encounter with object has changed his life and he does not know why. He feels strange and that he has lost something but does not know what. Ray has not been able to sleep since the encounter. He has not talked to his female friend as yet about the experience. Ray said he had encountered two other UFOs during his life, one twelve months ago and the other when he was seven years old. During this encounter he had missing time. He said the strange feeling he is experiencing  is similar to the way he felt when he way seven years old.  Ray did not want to go into detail about theses two UFO experiences. Roger has been seeing strange things in the sky for a short while. Somewhere between 9:30 pm and 3:00am he manages to catch strange lights moving in ways he thinks they shouldn't be able to move! Roger has previously called to report the closest encounter of his experiences of late.

On clear nights, he estimated that in the one week, he saw them more often than not. The sightings last for only a minute or so and always involve small, starlike objects distant over the Great dividing ranges. In one recent interview on local radio, he invited the occupants of these strange craft over for tea; if only to answer the frustrating question of what has been going on lately.

During the conversation, Roger spoke of a fencer who worked the areas. This person had been living in the area the longest and had actually grown up there. Roger said that during conversations with this man, he too now sees strange lights all of the time. Dominic McNamara AUFORN NSW

Shayne who lives on the Brighton Esplanade was standing out in front of his home at 1927hrs having a cigarette when he spotted a star shaped object west - northwest over the ocean at a 20% angle to the horizon. He described the object as a flashing white light; between the flashes the object appeared orange in colour. The object then moved to the north, in the direction of Port Adelaide and appeared to jump around, moving with a fishtail motion (side to side). No noise could be heard coming from the object. He watched the object for approximately 3 minutes before it diappeared out of sight. Shayne believes the object travelled at least 40kms in that time.

Shayne stated, as he was watching the star-like object a Virgin Jet was taking of from the Adelaide Airport, heading out to sea before turning around. He felt that the pilot should have seen the object as the jet was heading straight towards it. There was also a light-plane flying along the coast, it dipped its wing and headed out to sea. He thought the pilot might have seen the object as well.

Shayne stated that he was an avid sky-watcher and knew most of the aircrafts that flew in the area and felt that this object was very different to any aircraft he has seen before. He believes that a normal aircraft would not fly in such erratic manner, in the way that the object did.

Shayne was asked if he had witnessed a UFO before? He stated that he has seen two UFOs, the first was in 2001, but cant remember the exact date. He was at the Adelaide Airport lookout on Tapleys Hills Road when he saw a star-like object, dull in colour flying in an unstable manner, heading out to sea. Shayne reported this incident to “Cosmic Connections”. The second encounter was in June 2005, he and a friend were in a car at a West Beach car-park when they saw a small white spherical shaped object coming from the east at approximately ten thousand metres heading west out to sea. He said there was a police patrol car also in the car park and believes they may have seen the object as well. Duration: 3 minutes. Weather conditions: Cold, partly cloudy, temperature at 1927hrs, 12 degrees Celsius. Jeff Fausch AUFORN SA

So was it a meteorite or space junk falling to earth? No one knows. But at 1.30pm in the afternoon of July 19, many people across the Mid North of South Australia - from Wirrabara Forest to Quorn and Hawker saw a large object moving across the sky. One witness, John Teague was at Hawker in the Flinders Ranges. He was pumping tyres when something caught his eye. "I thought it was a flare. It was the colour of mercury and had a tail and there were sparks coming from it. Then it seemed to break up and disintegrate." He said it was large, not as large as a full moon, "more like a cricket ball," he said. About four minutes after it disappeared, John heard a "sonic boom". He said, "It was really loud, like thunder". The seismographs at Hawker and Wilpena registered the boom as a disturbance. David Love, seismologist with the Department of Primary Industries and Resources in Adelaide confirmed that equipment "at Hawker and Wilpena recorded the same thing". "What we've recorded is a soundwave coming somewhere south of Hawker, whether it's south west or south east is a bit hard to tell." He said they haven't got enough case studies to compare this sound with a sonic boom from a jet. And this is complicated further because the disturbance detection instruments are in the ground. So will property owners in the area during the weeks and months ahead find space junk or meteorite fragments? From what the seismographs indicated, David Love concluded, "If anything did hit the ground, it wasn't large". So what was it? The United States Space Command in Colorado said "there was no scheduled re-entry of any spacecraft or satellite." The CSIRO, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Australian Airforce at the Keswick Barracks, all said they knew nothing about it. The Astronomical Society in South Australia is keen to hear from any witnesses so they can determine what it may have been.

Jo rang to report what she called a “spectacular sighting”, estimated to be near the Richmond air base. “I was travelling West at 4:45 pm on the Tuesday, the 20th of July. Whilst joining the western motorways near the Toll from Parramatta road, her attention was drawn by a sudden flash in the sky. Although Jo lives near Nowra, she travels to the Children’s hospital in Sydney’s eastern suburbs weekly. “A big flash to the right of a cloud bank caught my eyes and I found myself having to pull over or crash the car through staring into the sky!” Jo says it was still very light at that time of the evening, not many clouds, and a huge burst of light was easy to see even in the sunset sky. Jo described a strobing effect, blindingly bright, “as large as moon in the sky, which then contracted.” Where she pulled over, a lot of people were looking at the same thing at the Lighthorse interchange. Jo said that two lines of smoke began to plume behind as it fell, but that it did not fall so rapidly as to suggest it was beyond control. The whole ‘fall to earth took at least 40 seconds. “This was definitely not a star, and the object was in the atmosphere”. Jo then saw something else. “Two jets took off; one went to the extreme left and the other came from the right, observing or intercepting. No way was it a plane”.

Jo described the scrambled jets as “F-18 style. The object was erratic in the way it fell and I got the impression that it was trying to slow its descent. Then there was a second flash. No noise was heard above the Parramatta on-ramp traffic noise.

Another weird thing happened on the way home, at around Kramer, on south coast. “This green star thing was hanging low over Kramer. It was burning a kind of phosphorescent colour glowing from the inside. It was definitely larger than Venus in the sky. I got home and saw a green glow in that direction. It was a bit strange!”

Passing Berri, Jo saw something else bright flash above the tree line, and something buzzed the car. “All this in one day!” Number of Witnesses: One primary, Multiple motorists. Dominic McNamara AUFORN NSW

Carol called to say that on the Thursday night of the previous week, her kids thought they heard aircraft, but very strange sounding ones. The family’s dogs ‘went off’ on 5 separate occasions. So about 9 pm, “I looked out to the South, South West and saw two bright lights that were seemingly parallel spots; they blinked on and off 6 times.” Carol said they were around 30 degrees above the horizon. Carol said that they were not moving across the sky as much as they were moving in relation to each other. “They were bright like a firework burst. Another gentleman saw the same thing on the Wednesday.” The callers residence is at a Nearly at Merriwa in the Hunter valley in an area known as Denman, in country NSW. Carol even rang the army camp to see if they were letting anything off but that turned out not to be the case. No real noise was heard, but something like a distant vehicle was humming all the while. Carol contacted Williamtown and Richmond air bases – no aircraft in the sky. Carol also described the objects as “Much bigger than stars.” The sighting lasted for minutes, not seconds until they were lost to the horizon to the East. Number of Witnesses: 2. At approximately 10 pm on the night of Saturday, 22nd of August, Pete was outside on his rural property when he noticed a bright orange light quite low on the horizon. It was travelling North from South and its brightness caught Pete's eye. As he was watching it, it stopped motionless in the sky. Over the next nine minutes, three more of these orange lights joined the first light at three-minute intervals. The four objects sat together hovering in the sky. Pete thought this was something very strange as he lives on the flight path and is used to seeing aircraft pass over the sky, but nothing quite like this. At this point, he called his wife to come outside who also thought that it was an unusual enough sighting to wake a third member of the household.

The three witnesses viewed the objects hovering for quite some time. They reported them as being constant in colour, no flashing lights and no noise. It was a clear quiet night with no wind.

Pete's wife estimated the size of the objects to be as large as a five-cent coin held at arms length. At approximately 10:50 pm, two of the objects 'peeled off', slowly gathering speed and disappeared in an easterly direction 'faster than any aircraft'. The remaining two objects shot straight over the witnesses' heads travelling north at similarly outrageous speeds. Pete remarked on the way in which the pairs left the area stating that 'they were definitely moving in formation'.

Pete's wife reported that the cattle and the dogs on the property were going berserk. The animals seemed to be really upset whilst the objects were in the area. The witnesses were totally amazed at what they had seen; so much so, they have watched the sky at the same times of night in the hope of seeing them again. Larraine Cilia AUFORN NSW

Brad, a professional from Winky (a small town situated in the Riverland of South Australia), walked outside for a cigarette and saw what he described as a weird bright white light the size of a golf ball in the evening sky. The object was travelling southeast away from Winky and looked as if it was descending in the distance. The duration of the sighting lasted only a few minutes in which time it was also witnessed by Brad’s fiancé. The speed and direction of the object did not deviate but moved in a constant, slow and direct course across the sky. There were dogs on the property but the object did not appear to have any affect on them. Brad described the incidence as unusual due to the lack of noise and the fact that the light appeared higher and brighter than that of the usual air traffic that frequented the area. Brad stated, “You can not see the lights of a plane as it moves away from you, whereas you could with this”. Although Brad had never seen a UFO before he was familiar with past events that had occurred to members of his family. Brad did not wish to discuss these issues due to the ridicule that his family were subjected to at the time and requested that he himself remain anonymous. Number of Witnesses: 1 Male & 1 Female. Cheryl was getting ready for bed at 1.40 a.m; she went over to the bedroom window to pull the curtains across when she saw a strange object outside her bedroom window. The object was in a westerly direction, approximately 45-degrees from the horizon. She thinks the object was close to the house. The object was approximately the size of the moon and whitish in colour. She grabbed her binoculars to have a closer look at the object. Viewing the object through the binoculars she described it as being orange in colour and appeared to have flames or flares coming out from it. She went outside to have a closer look at the object, it moved very slowly in a westerly direction for approximately 20 minutes before disappearing behind a large tree. The object appeared to make no sound. She thinks it would have travelled only 80 metres in that time. Duration: 1st sighting – 20 minutes. Temperature at 0140hrs, 11 degrees Celsius.

Approximately 15-20 minutes after the object disappeared behind the tree Cheryl believes she saw the same object again but much smaller. She thinks it appeared smaller because it was further away. The object shot of at a great speed, faster than anything she has ever seen before to the west and was out of sight within 5-6 seconds. The object had a stream of light around it as it was moving at that incredible speed. Cheryl thought it headed in the direction of Anzac Highway towards the Adelaide Airport. Duration: 2nd sighting – 5 seconds.

The next day Cheryl contacted the Public Relations Department at the Adelaide Airport to enquire if they could explain the sighting she had witnessed. She was not very trusting of them so she gave the wrong time of the sighting (done deliberately). They informed her at that time a helicopter had left Adelaide Airport heading to a medical situation and that is what she would have seen. She knew then it was not the helicopter that she had witnessed as she had given them a different time to the actual sighting. And living in Adelaide there is a curfew of all aircraft (excluding energy aircrafts) at the time the object was sighted.

Cheryl said that she has witnessed other UFO sighting in her life but did not want to discuss them. Jeff Fausch AUFORN SA

Debbie rang on several occasions to report two sightings she had on successive nights. She stated that what she saw was like a bright white light much more so than any starlight but that it shone a bright gold in the middle. Yet in three to five seconds it had faded and vanished! Deborah stated that at that time of night, it was adjacent to the Southern Cross constellation in the sky. The whole sighting on each night, at the same time of evening lasted around 6 – 7 seconds and felt that what she saw was strange enough from that of a satellite to report it to a UFO society.
